How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThe hotel was clean, comfortable and ideally placed. Our room was spacious and there were plenty of places to sit outside. The gardens were well tended. Breakfast, cooked on demand, was fabulous. Fresh, tasty and more than ample portions. Edith, our host was delightful. She and her staff are friendly and happy to help at any time.

Verified reviewthe location is very good, the breakfast is delicious, the rooms have a/c, the parking area is spacious and you get to see beautiful chicken roaming around everyday
the wifi couldn’t reach the room, the staff is not there all the time and it takes some time to contact them so if you have issues you will have to wait for a while, they take the trash out every other day.

Verified reviewThe location wasn't too bad. It was at least quiet.
The manager and the sneaky way she behaves. All smiles and a real "sting in the tail" after the stay at checkout time. Charged US$125 for a basic Christmas meal without any notice of the extortionate charge! Half the meal wasn't even cooked by her or her staff!

Verified reviewIorana! My stay at Taura'a was great for many reasons. Edith the host of the place was so friendly, caring and helpful! Her breakfasts were delicious, filling and vegetarian/vegan friendly! The room was spacious and cleaned every day, bed cozy and the bathroom well-equipped. The hotel had a unique atmosphere with its all artistic wooden sculptures and flower decorations. The location was so close to a bakery, market, restaurant and many souvenir shops and tourist attractions. One could easily reach a coastal path and go for a walk to see nearby town moais spread on the way and reach Ahu Tahai. Mauruuru for this experience!

Verified reviewThe best thing about the Taura'a is the location in the center of Hanga Roa close to restaurants, markets, the National Park visitor center, ocean-front swimming locations, and walking distance (about 1 mile each way) to Ahu Tahai. Airport transfers were included (as with most other places in Hanga Roa.) Toilets can be flushed which is not always the case on the island. I chose this place because of good reviews and because I wanted to stay at a smaller, more personal place that might be typical of the island. Unfortunately, it didn't suit me very well. Restaurants I liked: If you are vegetarian or just don't care for ceviche, I recommend Neptune's Island on the waterfront. Friendly people, nice music, shade from the sun, yummy menu with many food options. If you want to see the sunset at Ahu Tahai, it's roughly a one mile walk along the coast to Te Moai Sunset. Also a nice place but more limited menu. When you get to the stone wall, there are gates.
My main complaint is that breakfast starts at 8:30 AM. If you want the owner's highly rated breakfast, that is when you will start discussing breakfast with her, and she does like to chat. Guides are required to visit anywhere in the National Park, i.e., most of the island. Pickup time for my daily group tours was 9:00-9:30. I was lucky to get two pieces of toast and a cup of coffee by 8:45 on the mornings of my tours. Luckily, when I explained about breakfast, Green Island Tours agreed to pick me up last so I could at least swallow my toast before pickup. If you are booking private tours and can choose a later start, breakfast time would not be a problem for you, but the 8:30 start time was stressful and inconvenient for me, especially since I woke up with the roosters at 4:30 AM. When I booked, I thought this was a small "hotel." It isn't. It is a B&B. The owner is not on site. She stops at the bakery in the morning and arrives in time to start making breakfast at 8:30. She is there in the daytime if she needs to help with cleaning, do bookkeeping, or to greet new arrivals. At other times, you can try to reach her by WhatsApp. At night, no one is there. One night, there were no other guests, and I was completely alone at the "hotel." The other things that I will mention are probably true at many of the small places in Hanga Roa. Just part of being on the island: *Don't expect much other than noise from the A/C. *Noisy fridge -- earplugs worked for that. *There are hundreds of stray dogs on the island. At night, they bark and fight to defend their territories, and even ear plugs won't block the noise. *At dawn, the roosters start crowing. *It takes forever to get hot water (wasting lots of precious cold water), and the plumbing is extremely noisy so you can hear every flush and shower if there are other guests.
Iorana Julia, Tauraa offer several differents choice of breakfast to this guest, and she made very clear does she did not eat breakfast in the morning and only would like 2 pieces of toast and coffee, which we supply to her on request. sometimes you get people like this, that absolutly can not be satisfy with any condition whatsoever. Please Look at the rest of our comments to see the contrast. Mauruuru Edith

Verified reviewEdith the owner is 5star amazing! She greets you like a long lost member of her family. You immediately feel you belong. The breakfasts she prepares are delicious all the fruit comes from her own garden. The layout and grounds are beautiful. And she organised for us to have our own guide, Zoe-her niece, who was amazing. We couldn’t have asked for better. We are already planning a return trip!
