I would have given the hotel 10 out of 10 if it weren't for the small fact that they say they offer laundry facilities but in the end I was just told to go to the laundry store round the corner. I don't mind going to sort out my own laundry if there is a store nearby but as it was listed as a facility then I would have expected the hotel at the very least to have handled it rather than leaving me to sort it out myself - it's slightly misleading.

We had a wonderful stay at the Jihouse Courtyard Hotel. It has an amazing location in the hutongs and just a stone's throw from one of the most popular bars - Mai Bar - as well as many other restaurants and bars. It also served as a fantastic base for exploring Beijing, being only a 15 minute walk from Andingmen subway station, 20 minute walk from Yonghegong Lama Temple and 10-15 minute walk from the Bell and Drum Towers and Nanluoguxiang. The hotel itself was a quiet and peaceful oasis - the courtyard was beautiful with the rooms looking in on it. Our room was beautifully furnished with traditional Chinese furniture and very comfortable. The staff are very polite and helpful, and there were a couple of adorable cats living in the courtyard too which provided much amusement. The Chinese breakfast was delicious and filling - congee, dumplings and pickled beansprouts.

Having stayed there four years ago, I was looking forward a lot to stay there again. I wasn't disappointent at all and everything was still as beautiful as I had it in mind. Especially the lovely and quiet courtyard with its trees and chairs is a perfect place to relax. Chinese, traditional breakfast is delicous, the rooms are clean, spacious and traditioanlly furnished. The high-tech toilet is quite new and taking a shower a wonderful experience as water runs in a good pressure and you can chose between the rain-shower or the portable shower head option. Staff is very friendly, their English is very limited though.

This tiny hotel is very nice and quite. Rooms are clean and well equipped. Really interesting neighborhood. Staff members were friendly and helpful. Communication was easy as they all speak English fairly well.

    Not much to dislike really.

Staff were very helpful with maps and directions. Room was clean and comfortable. Nearest metro station was only a 10 minute walk away and plenty of restaurants and bars in the neighbourhood and very safe at all times. Staying in a courtyard hotel in a hutong was a great way to experience Beijing.

It is impossible to get a cab to drop you off at the location (which is in a narrow alley, off a somewhat wider alley, in the hutong). The room is very, very small. The bathroom could use a light over the mirror and could be cleaner (also, the shower sink was habitually plugged). The "Western" breakfast of dry toast, a fried egg, and jam could use some variety.

The location is perfect for getting a glimpse of life in the hutong. The Chinese breakfast was nice.

The hotel is a restructured old house. Although this is somehow poetic and interesting, facilities and services are not up to the level of modern hotels: the bathroom is small and the breakfast is... not continental :)

The couple that manage the place is very friendly, kind and helpful. Much appreciated! The hotel is also positioned very well in the city and - considering the overall price level in this city - is a good bargain

The bathroom was a bit too small and doesn't really fulfilled todays standard. Quite strong smell from the drain system.

The owners have welcome us very warm and were absolutely friendly and helpful. The property is located in a very nice area with a lot of small bars and cafes around.

The bathroom smelled of pipes, which is not unusual in China.

The staff were great and the host spoke good English. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The room was nice and very quiet. The bed was comfortable. The courtyard had a lovely persimmon tree and we even got to try the fruits for breakfast. The Chinese breakfast was nice (we never tried the Western one). WiFi worked better than in most other places we stayed.

    Nothing

This hotel is a beautiful traditional courtyard house in Beijing. The rooms are stylish, the staff is very helpful, bed is comfortable. Location is great. It is close to touristy nanluoguxiang alley but since it is situated in northern part of the street which is populated by local residents the night is very quiet. If you are looking for safe and quiet accommodation in traditional courtyard house that is situated within old Beijing hutongs, this is your choice.

I'd recommend going for the local breakfast vs. the western style one which was rather poor in comparison. There is no small fridge in room to keep drinks cold.

Small intimate place with what seemed like only 3 rooms. Loved staying in the peaceful hutong area. A non-touristy hutong area. Nicely decorated. Even though renovated rooms to modern standard kept the local deco style. Very friendly family-run place, going the extra mile to help and service you.

There was a slight mix up when we arrived as we had booked a twin room, but were presented with a double room. Staff immediately fixed it up, preparing twin room within ten minutes.

Staff (Oscar, Soraya and Eco) were wonderfully friendly and attentive from our arrival to our departure after three nights. It was a fantastic location, in the atmospheric alleyways of the Hutong, and right in the heart of Beijing, with the Drum Tower close by. A great boutique hotel for travellers looking for somewhere quiet and restful, and looking to escape the conventional hotel experience. Added bonus of no stairs.
