They didn’t have the room that we booked and sent us to another building that didn’t have the facilities that we had booked initially (kitchen, small living room). They told us lies after lies saying that Booking hadn’t sent them the confirmation when they were just overbooked.

The apartment was very clean and comfortable, the view was amazing and all the people that work there in the Reservado were very kind and patient with us, especially Eduardo, in the reception of the Irotama Reservado; he was extremely friendly and helpful offering explanations and help when needed 😊. The lifeguard at the beach was very kind and supportive as well helping us to find a good place on the beach and placing the chairs for us also very vigilant of the people safety. I also liked the security. You always have to be careful in Colombia anyway, but if felt it was a secure area. Alsothe beach in front of the hotel was clean, secure and the sellers were kind and not overwhelming like other beaches In Santa Marta where you cannot even bade in the ocean because there's always someone offering things. Finally, the hallway that connects the hotels through the beach was very pretty, full of nature so you can see many species of birds 🥹😍.

It was hard or in many cases absent the still water in the buffet, hotel or in the restaurants that belong to this hotel is like you are "forced" to buy it as an additional cost in the buffet for both breakfast and dinner. I also found it weird that there is no coffee machine in the buffet or Caravelle restaurant when taking breakfast even though the demand of people and coffee was really high, instead you have to wait until the person comes to you and give you coffee wich is a bit annoying and the coffee didn't tasted good at all. The above is a bit disappointing since Colombia is recognized for the quality of its coffee and the experience around this awful 😞. Finally, there's no changing room at the pool in the Irotama Reservado so you have to change at the toilets and it is neither comfortable nor hygienic for one as a guest. I also don't recommend the restaurants they are very overpriced and since the location is a bit far from the city or supermarkets you are kind of linked to eat there IF you don't feel like cooking. Again, please please! put coffee machines and offer good coffee in the future, is a Colombian hotel ! 😞

It was super clean, modern and very upscale. The rooms are apartment style. The infinity pool was large and amazing. Direct access to the beach. Free use of the palapas and chairs. Food quality was delicious. Access to other Irotama hotel pools and restaurants.

Unfortunately, the Irotama property which is very large and consists of different Irotama hotel buildings is situated in an area with lush vegetation, creeks, Lagoons and ponds. The property is promotes nature and it’s all very beautiful but it invites a plethora of aggressive mosquitos. Do bring ample supply for insect repellent. When it rains, it seems that the mosquitos become more aggressive.

The location is great, beach front, and the hotel is part of a small resort that extends along the beach with different restaurants and pools. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and the personal, although not super efficient, are very polite and helpful. The area is quite, except for the Hilton hotel area. Great stay with kids or with friends. The beach is clean and safe.

The breakfast could be healthier. The bread is industrial (from Bimbo type) and although you have a complete and good choice of local food, the hotel could offer more options like oat, granola, and other fruits. There are local sales people, all the time, pushing for sales in your resting areas, and the company that manages the jet-skis tried to reap us off, wanting to charge double of the time we used. We had to call the Tourism Police. The hotel needs to manage better it's own beach area.

Location and facilities are excellent. Room was modern, clean and much larger than expected. Staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. For a foreign visitor, the amount of security is a bit unusual especially given I've never seen any trouble on visits to Colombia. Overall, the facilities exceeded my expectations and the price was less than a basic hotel room in London - unbelievable value for money but perhaps I visited in low season.

Access roads are very basic and in poor condition. Given the many new hotels/apartment blocks in the area, I suspect some improvement to the roads would lift the general area but I doubt this is the responsibility of Irotama or the other hotels. Access from Irotama to the shopping centre (with a supermarket) is very straightforward but the guards gave the impression that walking the short distance at night was not a good idea. I can't really equate Colombians' impression of safety to my perception that Colombia is safer than most large European cities. Maybe I've just been fortunate.
