We stayed in room 11 in early September 2025. We would not normally stay in a place like Islington due to budgetary restrictions, but as this was a special occasion, we splurged. We had stayed here before, so we knew our stay would be special. The Hotel is a magnificent blend of old and new with meticulous gardens and a stunning view of Mount Wellington (it snowed during our stay). The whole stay was wonderful and the breakfast is top-end restaurant quality. The onsite property manager was very attentive and her focus on customer satisfaction made our stay even more enjoyable.

The only thing we could complain about was the Restaurant not technically being 'open' for dinner. We did have dinner in the restaurant one night and the meals were excellent and the open fireplace and ambience certainly made up for the reduced menu. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed what was available.

Perfect little place, everything you need and would need for a longer stay too. Good location and very spacious apartment. Being woken up by the kookaburras was a nice change!

The parking area was quite small, which made it a little tricky to get in and out, and I hadn’t realised it would be that limited. The rooms were also a bit on the noisy side

Having a shower and toilet in one space when it is shared amongst a few is very tricky it would be much better to have a separate toilet. The bathroom wasn't always clean, pee on the seat and water all round the sink but when sharing facilities that is to be expected. A place to fill up with drinking water would be good other than that all good. The only other thing is the food in the restaurant wasn't the best, again good enough but with a few simple changes could be better. The pizza was incredibly doughie and under cooked. When I reheated it at home it came out nice and crispy. The chips were incredibly oily and not particularly nice and the portion was huge, would be good to have options of small chips as a side or a large sharing portion.

Air conditioner not good, even after they fixed it. The plumbing when a neighbor turned something on, the loud hammering of the pipes woke me up and continued for several minutes. The ironing board was broken No pay TV The Patio was dirty Apart from that we were happy ?

Allow smoking in balcony please I had to go opposit the road to smoke and by the time I came back to bathroom i couldn’t do it. I understand because of smell but Balcony allowing for smoking may be at one floor only would be a good gesture from management to help.

Bed was terrible (folding into middle), room not as shown in photos, no balcony as per booking. Damage to internal bathroom ceiling and handrail at top of stairs loose - never knew we were getting a room with stairs!
