Chef Eyal’s cooking is beyond compare, I ate at Gingerbread’s restaurant on my last trip to La Fortuna and was determined to include it in my second trip. Both our dinner and later, our included breakfast were phenomenal, with fresh fruits and local ingredients that made the dishes truly special. I will always dream of coming back for more of Chef Eyal’s cooking!

They could have stocked the room a bit better with more hotel toiletries (such as conditioner).

The food was amazing and there's nothing like Gingerbread anywhere. We had a balcony room and the view of the lake was so wonderful.

We chose this place as a redocumentation from a Blogger and was very satisfied. Although we only stayed one night, it was a very pleasant experience. We ate dinner at the hotel and selected the Chef's Choice, which was a wide arrange and plenty of food at a great value. Also, a great breakfast was included, which we sat with everyone staying at the hotel, giving us a chance to meet other folks traveling. They also have cameras on the bird feeders, so you can watch as you eat breakfast. The staff had very good attitudes and were pleasant the entire time.

Nothing really. Maybe a fridge and hairdryer in the room would be nice but not critical.

Quiet roadside hotel, Beautifully painted, amazing food, friendly owner who fed the amazing birds. Location worked for us as we were in route to Tamarindo and were not happy with our hotel near Arenal. Really improved our trip.

Two cottages were beside the highway and got a bit loud when trucks lumbered past. Otherwise it was perfect! A must stay!unique!

We absolutely loved the cooler temperatures. Be prepared for a unique experience…the shower had ornate ceiling with plants growing inside and up above. Breakfast was served “family style” and the owner/chef engaged with his guests. The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. Surrounded by lush forest!

The food was phenomenal. We ordered off the menu the first night and then Elay let us sample from various starters followed by a main meal and the best cheesecake ever!! The staff is so friendly and I love the family style breakfast. It’s such a nice way to meet some of the other guests.

It was magical experience! Highly recommend staying here. From the idyllic room (stayed in the Garden of Eden), we did the dinner tasting menu (chef Eyal introduced each course, he’s such a cool guy… and the food was gourmet) and he prepared a fantastic breakfast on the patio in the morning. The staff are all amazing too. My husband and I had such a memorable stay. I can only upload 4 photos but I wish I could add more photos of the food! We can’t wait to go back there!!

This was the most unique, once in a lifetime lodge stay we have experienced. Eyal really does not mess/ “eff” around when it comes to food because seriously the two night dinner feasts we had was the most incredible food in the world. Sadly he ruined all our favorite restaurants but we will forever remember his hospitality. Going to gingerbread will feel like going to your grandma’s house because it has a cozy, warm feeling, and it’s so special. Definitely give this place a try with an open heart and you won’t be sorry.

The food is excellent and the portion sizes generous but even so the pricing is on the high end for Costa Rica. the location is right on the road which means a bit of road noise. It’s not that busy however so didn’t particularly bother us.

The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. In the morning they put out some fruit for the birds and loads of wonderful birds came to eat it which was a lovely show of local wildlife to enjoy over breakfast.

There was nothing we did not like. We loved our 4 night stay.

The breakfast was lovely and different each morning. It was so fresh with plenty of fruit and lovely coconut bread. It was lovely to have breakfast and watch the birds enjoying the fruit that is put out for them each morning. We also had dinner each evening and the menu was so varied and very international. Eyal is a fantastic host, he is a big character and is so welcoming to all guests. The food was absolutely incredible and we ate in each evening as we did not want to go out and miss his wonderful food. Truly outstanding flavours and quality. Such a beautiful setting. Our room was the jungle room and we loved the jungle theme decoration. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. We had a really good balcony overlooking the lake.
