Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe arrived after dark. It appeared to be closed and no-one home. We rang the bell but it didn't make a sound so no indication anyone heard it. 10 mins later someone arrived (it's a long way to the gate), having heard the bell, when we were seriously considering having to sleep in the car. An intercom system would reassure callers that someone was coming. Mosquitos in the forest are quite horrendous. Be prepared to hump your own bags 500m up a steep hill!
The location, the wildlife, the lack of traffic noise.

United StatesThat I completed this once before more completely and this is the second time you’re asking me to complete this again.
Liked hiking in, being off the road away from cars and trucks, the beauty and view of Ceiba, the bird and monkey visits, the night hike to see frogs.

United KingdomNot everyone will love sharing with the animals. There are bats upstairs and ants if you leave food out. Definitely a place for real nature lovers. There was minimal communication before and during our stay. You are on your own so if help was needed you’d have to figure it out yourself. No nature ID books or well marked trails for exploring. Very little info on anything. If you come here be prepared it isn’t like a regular resort or air bnb. You are staying in a reserve and you need a reasonable level of self sufficiency.
The location is wonderful - deep in primary forest and away from humans. A real immersion. The viewing tower at sunset is very special - looking across the forest and hearing the sounds of all the animals. The house itself is stylish and comfortable with a good kitchen and lovely deck.

United StatesThis place isn't for everyone. My family didn't love the open air living. They complained no A/C and cold showers didn't feel like vacation. If it was just me, I'd give it a 10. The "eco" accommodation "hardships" were totally worth it for a setting like that and always on wildlife entertainment!
This property was breathtakingly beautiful. Walking up, I had an overwhelming feeling how lucky we were that I stumbled into such a gem. The path to the chalet is well manicured and the foliage is gorgeous. You are immersed in wildlife. I wish I could take morning coffee on that porch for the rest of my life.

United KingdomVery remote, no phone signal, no internet. We are intrepid older folk but we were concerned that if we DID have an emergency there was now way to get rapid aid. Sadly little to no input from the staff but they did come and change our empty gas signal. Some wildlife interpretation would have gone a long way. Some information leaflets about the possible wildlife would have done. No other guests. There was (bewilderingly) absolutely no attempt to keep the wildlife out of the house. No mosquito mesh, no glass, the mosquito net didn’t fit the bed. Having said all this we didn’t get bitten much!
Me Tarzan, you Jane with hot water, a fan and a kitchen! Great wildlife but difficult to see. A colony of (I believe) insectivorous bats in the upstairs bedroom. A real in-the-jungle appeal. A beautifully build wooden building in the jungle.

Czech RepublicIt's not suitable for small kids. You need to carry all your luggage 400m through the forest. There are bugs in the padding of the outdoor seating area. We've all been bitten. In the upper room were 6 bats living with us. Also, the night tour through the rain forest is currently cancelled - in case you wanted to stay because of that.
The rain forest is just beautiful. Peace. Ideal for adults who just want to chill out away from the busy Puerto Viejo.
