Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomFood was served in a buffet style but you walk round holding a plate out for portions. It felt a little like Oliver Twist holding a plate out hoping for more. Although you could revisit the buffet as much as you wanted so there was no restriction but it wasn’t the nicest way to be served.
Set in the rainforest of Tortuguero it is in a beautiful and secluded location accessible by ferry boat from the mainland. We got the public ferry from La Pavona and left our car there. The pool area is lovely and there is a short trail where several guided tours visit to walk round each day. The rooms are nice, clean and bug free. Basic provisions, no coffee/tea facilities or fridge which we found useful in other places as we travelled. Reception were really friendly and helpful. Surrounded by animals, Spider monkeys were jumping on our roof, there are lots of birds, iguanas, armadillos and more all in the grounds. Tortuguero isn’t known for its places to eat out and we found eating at the hotel very reasonably priced and convenient.

United KingdomOrganisation was very chaotic, felt a bit stressful. Meal times changed day to day. Wasn’t fully aware of the full board concept when I booked through booking.com, but was a nice surprise! Picture of the pool is of the neighbouring hotel, not Pachira.
The food was delicious. The rooms were really comfortable, lots of space. Activities were really fun. Met some incredible people. Jungle atmosphere is amazing, lots of wildlife. Staff were friendly.

United States of AmericaLocation, three lodges we rented all in good shape.
Foods were EXCELLENT! I highly recommend guests not to waste eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner in town. Terrible, waste of money, & expensive. We wasted our time & money eating several restaurants. We then decided to eat only at Pachira lodge all remaining meals.

United States of AmericaSnacks could have been made available in the register office and possibly at the pool bar. Since it was a boat ride to town, having hot snacks available at the bar or chips and such would have been nice.
Nice Comfortable cabins and beds. Convenient location. Good hot breakfast. Adequate lunch and dinner selections.

United KingdomPachira lodge is setup like a camp, cohorts of guests are on a fixed schedule and anyone not on those schedules will find facilities are not convenient. You'll have a better experience booking one of their package offerings (not available on this site at the time of booking) It is an eco-lodge, but air-conditioning would be a huge hit for this place. If they could install solar on the roofs to provide that extra energy that would be a game changer. While a single fan for a room makes sense for an eco-lodge, a lack of wardrobe or storage for your belongings doesn't. Most staff don't speak much English, the management have very strong english. Information about the hotel itself is very limited, their website is not great. The floating restaurant and the pool shower were out of action.
The pachira lodge is set within beautiful grounds and a water taxi away from the noiser, dirtier town. The pool area is the highlight with wildlife frequenting the area. The trail walk although short is also very easy to walk and has plenty of wildlife. Staff go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. We arrived as a single party and had missed the scheduled lunch but they had set aside a meal and prepared fresh food for us when we did arrive. This was a delight as there wasn't food available on site outside of the serving times. Generally speaking the upkeep of the property was good, better than the photos even show and a small team of staff were out daily doing repairs and improvements.

United States of AmericaMissing coffee in the room. Also a place where you could purchase snacks, water, etc. on the grounds. The pool was nice but very crowded and the waterfall feature needs repair.
Excellent location. Well organized meals and very accommodating staff.

United States of AmericaThe very thing allowing us to be close to nature also allows us to hear our neighbors alarm & arguments. If you like air conditioning, glass in your windows, hangars & irons, this is not the place. I’d also love to have a made to order meal option rather than buffets only.
As little barrier between us and the tropical rain forest as possible; we watched wild monkeys while in the pool, toucans from outdoor meals, went to sleep to the sounds of frogs & cicadas & woke to howler monkeys!

United KingdomThe dinner was not great-it was buffet-ran out of food…..would recommend taking a water taxi to the main village and eating there.
Great location. Nice room, paper thin walls though-so can hear everything in the next room! Bathroom a bit small and dated, but clean. Friendly staff

GermanyIt’s an AI hotel, which you will notice, even when not choosing AI. The foodhall is huge and the meals rather simple. No local food available. The stuff does not speak any English.

Canadalike many places in CR we found the beds too hard. the meals were very basic without much variety—buffet style with a server masked behind glass.
Rooms are in the jungle, accessed by beautifully laid out elevated walkways. lots of wildlife sightings. We found the cleaning staff to be friendly. The lodge almost empties out some days as most people get up, eat and do tours.

United KingdomBuffet food doesn't do it for me. The restaurant area felt a bit tired. Kind of holiday camp feel about it.
The forest walk was actually very good. We didn't expect much but nicely surprised by the experience. Pool area also very nice. Location good too albeit a boat ride from the village so isolated from bars and restaurants.

United KingdomThe lodge is a boat ride away from the town which means it's not possible to just mooch in and out of town, needs some planning (and $3 per person per ride). It's the jungle so it's bug central although the room is screened so that helps. There is a ceiling fan but the speed isn't very fast. It's not the easiest to get to, and it would have been really helpful to have had clear instructions sent by the hotel of the options to get there. And the timing restrictions (last boats etc).
Breakfast was good, lots of fruit and different hot options each day. We also had Dinner which at $13 per head (excl drinks) is a bargain. It was delicious. Rooms are large and lovely. It's a really beautiful location, it feels like you are staying in a botanical garden. So many birds and flowers. We saw (and heard) monkeys.

United States of AmericaThe jacuzzi isn’t hot. The rooms that are attached don’t have a full divided wall. There’s an open gap at the end of the wall that makes noise travel from to room an issue. I could hear everything the other people next door were doing.
