The room was very small and basic. It was hot in Bamberg during our stay, and with no air conditioning and only a small window the room got very hot. A pedestal fan was provided but it was old, noisy and wobbly and took up valuable space in the room. Breakfast was only average.

Hotel is perfectly located for walking around the old town. Staff were friendly and helpful and on-site parking was convenient. Dinner and beer at hotel restaurant was good. Price was reasonable.

We heard the Hotel Alt-Ringlein had a great white sausage breakfast with a giant pretzel and sweet mustard, but apparently they do not! We asked the staff at the front desk and all she said was "No.". Not very helpful, and we wished they could have at least told us where else to go.

We loved being right downtown Bamberg!

The lady at the reception wasn’t very friendly or forthcoming...no kettle in the room which we missed as it was cold and wet outside. The noise from the street is very loud.

This is the only hotel I've stayed in in Bamberg that charges for late check in. Every other (cheaper!) hotel has let you pick up a key at any time. I always arrive after midnight because of flight timings, and ended up paying an extra 50 euros just to check in.

    Better access to public transit.

The location was a blessing and a curse: it is amid the historic center, near the cathedral and many of the local pubs, the latter making for a rather noisy sleep.

    No cons.

Rooms were very lovely and it felt as if you were staying in a relatives home. The staff was so kind to allow us an early check in even though they were short staffed that day. Breakfast was fantastic and the owner even prepared it two hours early for us because we had to check out early that day. He sat with us after our meal and had a wonderful conversation about travel. We loved our staff and would highly recommend this inn to everyone looking for an authentic German family experience.

Parking is tight, be sure to check the size of your vehicle (regular cars should be fine). Hotel is on a dead end and we got trapped in the roadway for 15 minutes by a beer truck when we were leaving in the morning. If you plan to go to bed early, you'll need to close the windows as there is a large gathering area of beer drinkers very nearby, but they quit around 10pm. The hotel staff was nice, but the servers at the restaurant seemed a bit rude. Actually, most of them were nice except one woman who tried to tell us they were too busy to serve us though over half the restaurant was open. The food was great once we did get served though!

Great location in the heart of the city and near the river walk, the cathedral, and the residenz. There are plenty of dining options nearby and all attraction are within a 5 minute walk. Rooms were comfortable and had good views. Breakfast was good, but didn't have as many options or was as fresh as we had been used to, and reception was helpful.

Central location meant quite a lot of street noise at night ( you are informed of this when you book) though this only applies during the hot summer evenings when you need the windows open.

Fantastic location three minutes walk to the cathedral and four minutes to the river. Great reception staff , good restaurant food and a decent breakfast. I have marked the comfort down only because the hotel is next to the central brew haus which can be noisy until about 1am, and in summer the windows had to be open... earplugs were provided though ! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to experience Bamberg and I look forward to going back again - excellent beer as well !

Staff were professional though not exactly warm and friendly Information was all in German and no information on Bamberg in the room (except ads) No A/C so room very hot - despite us being there during a rainy spell - there was a room fan however Noisy but would expect that in this central locale

Very convenient for old town and on a bus route Nice outside cafe Traditional, homely, comfortable room with some character and and useful room features (eg fridge); I liked the slight shabbiness of the old furniture! Generous space and good towel supply Considering it's a tourist hotspot, value for money was quite good

Perfect location in the middle of the old town. The hotel is beautiful from the outside! Inside the hallways are very traditional but the room was modern, quite big and very clean. In the evening and late at night the noise from the street and nearby terraces was a little bit disturbing but luckily in the drawer of the bedside table were earplugs. The breakfast was okay, nothing special but you got all the necessary things. The staff was friendly.

Would have loved 2 pillows per person and a sheet on the bed, as well as a kettle in the room.

Very clean and comfortable room right in the heart of town. Walking distance to everything we needed and wanted to see. I love the German style of beds made up with crisp white bed linen found universally - I only wish the pillows found almost equally universally were as well chosen. As in so many other hotels around the country, here they were too soft, too floppy, hopeless for reading in bed and only just sufficient for sleeping.

A great location within the historic centre of lovely Bamberg; a light, bright, spotlessly clean good-sized room and bathroom in a centuries-old building; very pleasant and helpful staff; a more-than-ample German breakfast; the mod cons of a lift and good wi-fi were all part of the appeal of this hotel for us. Arriving with a car on a weekday in mid-May and departing fairly early next morning we found it relatively easy to access to unload/load our bags from the car but, with on-site parking only available for VERY small cars and the approach to reception taking you through the biergarten, a crowded weekend evening in high summer might make this a bit more nervewracking. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that parking in an historic, mediaeval town is at a premium. The Alt-Ringlein has reserved spaces for its guests in a secure, underground carpark some 7-8 minute's walk away, the cost of which is in line with other city parking charges in similar German cities. As the hotel acknowledges, the presence of several restaurants and the biergarten in the street immediately in front of the hotel does mean there's likely to be noise and activity in the evening. Our room, at the back of the hotel, was a quiet haven to retreat to after dinner in the biergarten followed by a last walk around the town on a balmy evening.

No washcloths in shower. A bit of sound from outside, but only a problem for the lightest of sleepers. If you want gyms, spas, nightlife and extras...try a different town.

Right in the old town, yet driveable to get in. Reasonable (10 euros), secure, indoor private parking. Next to the landmark 1405 brewery/restaurant Schlenkerla. (Cash only, but try the smoked beer!!!) Great, simple breakfast featuring scrambled eggs that were actually tasty. Hotel features super attentive, knowledgeable staff who accommodated us with late parking departure and baggage storage. We went low season, so it was a huge bargain. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great location in the old town close to the famous Schlenkerla Brauarei/ Rooms of a good proportion with a good quality HD TV and great value for price including the Breakfast which was a very good continental to amply set you up for your day. Food in the Hotel's restaurant was fantastic, Franconian menu and excellent regional beer & wine, again very reasonably priced. If you are a light sleeper the church bells may wake you but for me it was all part of this charming town's appeal. Greeted with a smile, but a total lack of information. The receptionist seemed to assume we would know where to go. She then went off to chat with another staff member. The car parking is only for small cars. We have a Quashqui, hardly and over-sized car, but could not get in. We had to use the car park in the Residenzschloss Hotel at 12 euros per day. We wish we had stayed there.
