    Nothing really

Hotel was very convenient to town centre. Just 100 m away. Parking was excellent in church yard!! Breakfast was simple but adequate and good quality. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom could be a bit bigger.

The hotel is right in front of the church therefore bells ringing every hour may be a bit disturbing (we stayed there during Easter). Luckily they don't ring between 23:00 and 6:00. It didn't bothered us too much as we weren't in the room during most part of the day.

Perfect location right in the city center. The train station is in about 15-20 min walking distance but you can also take a bus. The bus stop is only a few meters away. Complimentary bottle of water at arrival. Nice and comfortable room although a bit small.

The bathroom is rather small with limited space for storing items. The shower leaked on the floor even though we closed the doors properly...sorry we forgot to mention this as we should have done - it's not a complaint.

A warm welcome and helpful directions immediately on arrival for all we needed to know including parking. Helpful staff who booked a table at a restaurant as our German was sadly lacking. The breakfasts were excellent with individual portions of so many delicious and interesting dishes. The location is really convenient for exploring everything in the city. We would definitely choose this hotel again.

The staircase is spartan stone with metal banisters

Perfect location for exploring the Old Town. Walking distance from the railway station past the famous Holstentor. Right next to Marienkirche whose clock chimes every quarter and strikes the hour every half hour day & night; we liked this but if it disturbs you, you need a room at the back and to keep the window closed. The bed was comfortable and bathroom nicely fitted. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast is very varied and beautifully presented

Church bells at the nearby Marienkirche for which the hotel is named) are frequent (every 145 minutes) and play the first line of a hymn on the hour. Had to keep window closed to sleep through them. Request a room on back side to keep noise to a minimum.

Location couldn't be better: one block from Thomas Mann house, two blocks to pedestrian shopping/restaurant street. Staff were so friendly and helpful: loaned me a special city map, hauled my bicycle up and down steps from the cellar, loaned me a telephone for an important phone call.

No cupboards in the bathroom - though plenty of room to put washbags etc. The 'toiletries' consisted of just soap dispensers over the washbasin and bath - which would have been ok except that they had to be squeezed from the side, and my hands weren't strong enough to do that successfully with one hand. The shower cubicle was very small, with just a shower curtain, and the shower head was positioned in such a way that the water would only go straight on to the shower curtain (not very helpful!). It was only on the second night that we discovered a very unobtrusive button which allowed the shower head to be adjusted, after which it was fine.

Extremely friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast including- several varieties of smoked fish, soft boiled eggs, cheese, meats etc. Well presented and continually replenished when any item got low. Nice change to have natural light in the bathroom. Room was light and airy with a comfortable bed . Very central location - easy to walk everywhere, and Lubeck is a very attractive town, with plenty to occupy us during the 4 days we were there. It was also very easy to walk to the station to take a train trip to the nearby seaside resort of Travemunde.

    No bad experience.

Location of this lovely little hotel is very central. The staff were helpful upon check-in. Room and bathroom are super clean. Bed is very comfortable. Breakfast was superb. Wifi is excellent. If older generation ask for 1st floor room and they will help you with your luggage, there is no lift and hotel has 3 floors. We were on 3rd floor and didn't mind the exercise. If you have a car drive to front of hotel, they'll direct you to carpark,(which is opposite) cost is 9euro and hotel disc for display in car! You'll hear the church bells occasionally, they weren't annoying to us. but on a Sunday at 8am they are truly wonderful to hear! We so enjoyed our stay here.

The hotel has no elevator, and we were placed on the top (third floor). Despite the fact that we asked them to replace us on some lower floor they do nothing. For 4 day stay, heating in the room did not work 3 days, even though we reported the problem in time. The staff tried to be polite, but that was all.

Parking options should be better explained on the home page. Alternatively you must use the parking house Marienkirche 100 meter away (15 Euro/day). The reception close early in the evening so make to sure to inform the hotel if you arrive late.

Great location in old town centre. Hotel is small, very clean, well kept with all the facilities you really need. Quiet at night despite the central location. The church bell did not disturb when the window was closed. The friendly receptionist provided us with maps and relevant advice. Good breakfast buffet and extra coffee was offered. Lots of restaurants and bars in the attractive old town centre just outside your door.

Very cold in the room, no ventilation or heating in the bathroom. The bathroom was unusable, it was freezing cold, you couldn't sit on the toilet, and the only way to bring fresh air was to open a huge window in the conditions that outside were 0 degrees Celsius. We've been in hostel rooms that were far more comfortable. On the floor not even a little 2 euro rug from Ikea next to the bed, just ciment... The absence of a lift, when you have heavy suitcase and you live on the last floor is difficult...Very unpleasant! Just a money machine with no consideration for the people...
