A well run hotel in an idyllic location on the edge of the marsh. A short climb up the sea wall opposite the hotel leads directly to a lovely circular nature trail. The staff were friendly and helpful, and my room was spacious, comfortable and clean. There was a good choice of food at breakfast. As the hotel is quite isolated, I chose to take my evening meals there and set menu provided a reasonable choice of well prepared dishes. There is also a small comfortable bar where, as a single traveller, I could read and enjoy a quiet drink.

The room interior was simple and quite dated. Could definitely use an update. The single bathroom light was extremely white and bright, not that great at night. The provided WiFi was very poor.

The hotel surroundings are great for walking, relaxing or bird watching. The room was clean. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Dinner was not good for vegetarians though vegetarian options were advertised but only bland side dishes were available.

For the ~Hotels rating & Prices, you cannot complain!

A wonderful traditional German Nordsee retreat Returning for a third time, it was great to see that over the summer the improvements & renovations we have seen on previous stays have now been completed. With a New Sauna being wired in as we stayed. The 'reading room/lounge' complete with its self service coffee machine & drinks is a warm refuge if the weather prevents getting outside. We were not disappointed with the Breakfast! Eat as much and you want & take as long as you like. Dinner in the Restaurant is traditional fare & well served. Wines 7 Beers flow well & are very reasonably priced. To step outside of the hotel & be directly in the wonderful Wattenmeer Unesco biosphere with its incredible sights & sounds of large flocks of Geese & other birds is stunning, any Bird/Nature Lover will be very content here with many local places to observe with trails, hides & walks and two visitors centres in walking distance! If you are ok with Bicycles, this is the area for you with many Kilometres of dedicated Cycle paths. The Hotel has Electric Cycle Hire even! We will return in 2025!

My confirmed booking was unknown to the hotel on our arrival and we had to pay extra for the only available room.

Great location and an excellent restaurant in the hotel. The WLAN was a little flaky and this could be improved. Lovely spot for anyone looking to be near the nature.

The hotel was building a new annex (?) when we stayed there. The workers started at 7am, which might be a problem for some people. Most of the construction work was finished when we left, so this should not be an issue after July 2024.

We chose this hotel because there are several bird-watching cabins nearby, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel. The hotel is very nice and every room on the ground floor has a little terrace with its own typical "strandkorb". The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel's restaurant (Deichgraf) attracts a lot of people from the surrounding area, so table reservation is strongly recommended. We ate there twice and the food was excellent.

We opened the windows in our room, and the air was so fresh. But the rest of the hotel was completely closed, no windows opened (why?), and the restaurant was particularly warm and stuffy.

So serene. The view from the room was grassy koog, a meandering stream, and windmills. So many birds we have never seen before. Be sure to walk to the nearby bird blind huts nearby!

Under staffed. Two hours from sitting down for dinner. Room very poor. 2ft headroom at head of bed. Hit my head on stairs from sitting area to bed space. No ability to make tea/coffee in room
