Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

IrelandThe wi-fi was so bad that it was unusable - we had to use our mobile data hotspots. The breakfast was quite disappointing (and got even smaller on weekdays). The temperature in the room could not be increased, and a few nights I was too cold. There was no ventilation or extractor fan in the bathroom so it was full of steam/moisture following showers. Depending on where your room is located, you may be disturbed by other residents outside - there were conference groups there when we stayed and on 3 separate nights they were being very loud in the courtyard late into the night, and the windows of the room let all of the sound in. We had to sleep with noise cancelling headphones in to get to sleep. Cleaning staff were slow to replace products in bathroom (e.g. one of the tubs of products in the shower remained empty for our whole stay).
Located a few minutes walk from Nollendorfplatz station, which made it easy to reach other areas (not much in the area directly surrounding the hotel). The shower was very good - strong water pressure and no shortage of hot water. We left the room at variable times each day but still each time when we got back, the room had been cleaned. Bed was large. Check-in and check-out were all done via computer, we did not interact with any staff for our entire stay (a pro for us, but I guess could be a con for others). I stayed in this same hotel a few years ago (2019), and many improvements had been made to the hotel this time around - extensive renovation and much more modern interior now.

Definitely, you can get more bang for your money. Not only, did the hotel exceed our expectations ,but it also blew up our minds with innovative self check-in and modern bunk beds (initially, we were skeptical about). And not to mention the iconic entrance style...... Furthermore, at first glance, despite being under the impression that no receptionists were there, you just need to look around for customer care office whom employees were always available and helpful as well as willing to sort out anything cropping up.

The location and the size of the rooms were great. There was a balcony, which I loved, but it wasn't clean enough to go out onto. Self-check-in and check-out were superb; I didn't lose any time doing so. They should have sent the invoice directly to my email, but instead, I had to visit guest relations, where I had to wait a bit. Overall, I am happy with my stay at the Berlin Hotel.
