Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaBecause we were on the ground floor right next to the kitchen and very close to the other communal areas it was quite loud at certain times but with earplugs it didn't disturb my sleep too much.
The beds were comfortable, the room was spacious and the private bathroom was a bonus (we booked a twin bunk room but got a larger room with a bathroom, maybe because we were there in the off season?). The room allocation was very appreciated on arrival. The fridge in the room was also incredibly helpful, the cooking facilities were great, the free tea and coffee in the morning was also lovely. The location was good, a bit of a walk into the city if you wanted to venture that way but not far on the metro. We explored a lot around the hostel too, lots of things to see close by.

AustraliaI hadn’t realised it was in St. Pauli, but it was quiet, and we had no trouble.
Good value for money. Close to the train station. Close to several tourist attractions. It was an hour long walk into the main city centre. We were given a family room which was comfortable and spacious. There was free coffee every morning and a kitchen to use. Maps and information available. Checking codes worked without any dramas.

It is very close to major stops. I reserved 1 room for 2 with bathroom. Nina gave us a big room for 9 people but only we used the all room that was very nice for us. It is very simple to reach to the place from the airport by metro. Morning free coffee was great. We were very happy to stay there. No soap and no towel, you have to bring them with you. There is a market which is very close. Thanks Nina :)

Germanybathroom was very clean and attached to the room. I stayed in a "private room" which was actually a room for 6 people but they didn't let anyone else stay in it. I thought that was quite funny. Nevertheless, I had plenty of space all for myself and the host (Antje?) was very helpful and kind. Getting into the property and into your own room is easy with a pin code, the location is fabulous, close to everything on the Reeperbahn and Grossefreiheit. Would absolutely stay here again next time!

TaiwanThe slightly dodgy looking bed linen. Although I tried to convince myself that it was clean, I didn't use it. Instead I wrapped myself inside the duvet cover ( kind of like inside a sleeping bag ). Luckily I got by as the weather was warm in early September.
1. Close to U-Bahn station and supermarket nearby. My room is facing directly onto the street and it was surprisingly quiet at night ( But I am not sure what kind of noise should I expect in this area ) 2. I booked a room with private bathroom and was given a 9-beds dorm ( with ensuit bathroom and WC ) all by myself. It's not quite what I have expected but it served the purpose. 3. Free coffee in the morning 4. Special praise to Hr. Rick from reception as I am extremely nervous about using the "door code" thing ( but it seems to become more and more popular nowadays ) . I nearly went to the panic mode when I arrived at the hostel door ( which was very invisible from the exterior, I passed it twice without noticing it ) and had no idea how to get the entry while everyone else ( mostly young fellows ) glided through the door by effortlessly punching a series of numbers and signs on the door. He showed up ( I told my expected arrival time in advance ) and guided me through in good humour and patience.

United States of AmericaNo staff are around, generally. The room and beds are okay, not great, and reasonably clean, but again, nothing great. No soap or towels are provided, so you have to bring your own soap for the bathroom. For an old hostel, the price seemed a bit much.
The location is not bad. It's a short walk from the St. Pauli subway station, and there is a small amusement park right at the station. The neighborhood is okay - mostly cheap hotels and such in the area. It's hundreds of meters from the seedy Reeperbahn area, so it's quite okay for a family to stay at this hostel. The shared kitchen is okay, and fairly decent free coffee is provided in the morning from a machine.

Czech RepublicOn the level of hostel accommodation, I have nothing to complain about. Perhaps only at least a small towel would be nice, but that's a small thing.
The hostel is in the heart of St. Pauli, yet the street was quiet as there are no noisy nightlife establishments in the immediate area. Self-service check-in and check-out is convenient. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and modestly equipped. Internet without a problem. On the ground floor a vending machine for drinks (even small beer) at reasonable prices, a kitchenette, a common room. I have no problem to come again.

Czech RepublicThere is impossible to park close to the hostel. The best option is to search P+R and to come by public transport here, the station is very close. For short park it is okay, one hour costs 3 €.
Great location, just 2 minutes walking to Reeperbahn. McDonalds and another restaurants are close, much closer the bars.

United KingdomVery minor problems - I didn't like the smell of the product used to clean the room. I was expecting a room with a single bed but I got a room with a triple bunk bed to myself - not a lot of headroom on the bottom two beds (obviously I could have climbed to the top bed)
Free hot drink in the morning. Very comfortable mattress. Nice kitchen and lounge area with a piano and massage chair. Quiet location - there's a restaurant with outside dining across the road but that was closed by 11 so it was relatively quiet after that. The red light district is just far enough away that this street did not feel dangerous
