Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe curtains in the room were very thin and there were lanterns outside my window, so it didn't get dark in the room.
Very good breakfast, so much choice! The location was perfect for me as well; close to the trainstation and city centre. Good, large bathroom with a nice shower.

GermanyThere are almost no vegan option in the breakfast, so this could get approve. might be a bit old style but it's have also a magic and everything is clean and working well so it's not really affected our stay.
Really nice people working there, they all were helpful and welcoming. Very good location, all you need is a walking distance, good for people without a car. The room was very clean and you get all you need for your stay, you can see that someone thought about the guests (there is even an umbrella in every room!).

United KingdomThe only real negative we found was there was always a constant sell of cigarette smoke about the place .
The location of this hotel was perfect for our needs on this trip. The hotel had some free parking but this ran out quickly which ment you needed to use a paid car park up the road. If like us you wanted to use the steam trains , the station is only a 10 minute walk around the corner. The rooms are a little dated but clean . There is no tea or coffee making in the rooms ,but not important for me. Bathrooms are fine and lots of heat when needed. The staff were very frendly and most helpful. We left to early for our return home to enjoy the the breakfast , but we were greater with a very good packed lunch to take with us .

GermanyBiggest complaint is the whole hotel smelled like cigarette smoke, not sure if staff was smoking somewhere or if guests were smoking in a room.
Great location, very easy walk to the Altstadt and close to restaurants and shopping. Good breakfast with hot and cold items and a good selection to choose from.

AustraliaNothing was that bad to warrant a report.
Stopping in a taxi at the entrance to the hotel, I was quickly met by Donna, the on duty manager, to assist with my baggage. This was a pleasant surprise and not something I have experienced elsewhere. Check-in was easy, and there was an underlying desire to be helpful. The hotel is a traditional building, but I found my room was quite spacious. Amazingly, a refrigerator was in the room. The bed could be better, and the shower was a little cramped, but otherwise, the room was great. The desk team was very willing to advise me on a range of matters. Wernigeroder is rather nice and has many traditional buildings. The only issue was that english is not widely spoken. Breakfast at the hotel was a massive selection but virtually no English style foods. Overall, this is a great hotel, and I would return.

FinlandThere were only one key to the room, which was a bit tricky when we weren't together at the town all the time. It was a bit surprise that the tax had to be paid by cash when leaving the hotel.
Location was very good: short distance to both railway station and the old town with restaurants and shops. Room was spacy basic room and even the castle could be seen on a window. Breakfast was good even if there were not any cakes or sweets available.

PolandAlthough the wifi was not working at the beginning, staff tried their best and after 1,5 days of fighting it was working without problem. There was a smell of cigarettes in the lobby.
Excellent location, relatively quiet, in the old town, 5 min. walking to old town square. BTW, I recommend the Brauhaus restaurant in town square for a great traditional food and drink. Hotel staff was very nice and helpfull. The breakfast was excellent - if its optional I strongly advise You to take it. Lots of choice and variety from fruits and jam to very good local meat and cheese. Free parking for guests in front of the hotel, although number of places is a bit limited.
