My friends came late with the plane and I went to pick them up at the door and the security kept asking me questions because they thought they were not guests. Also a fire alarm triggered at like 9AM but nobody seemed to care about it so it was just an annoying sound. I guess someone smoked in the room or something.

The hotel part of Generator is very clean, tidy, and new. It's perfect for a short stay.

It's typical low cost accomodation. Not very comfortable but fair according to the price.

The access card to my room didn't work (even after "fixing" it at reception. Had to knock the door for people open for me). The bathrooms are dirty.

The cards that were supposed to be opening the door to the room, to the ladies/gents and the door to the corridor were constatly failing. We were on the reception at least twice a day with some problem. Apparently there’s some problematic system and it was slightly annoying.

I always forget why I reserve this hostel as a 'last option': the school groups. Groups of school children, who apparently never left the farm, are loud and obnoxious and one never hears an adult shush them. They play on the elevators and run and screech through the halls and stairwells.

Managed to have a dormitory to myself! I've stayed here multiple times and this check-in was surprisingly quick and uncomplicated.

Location was a bit far from the center of Berlin but the train station was next to the building. The elevator didn't work 1/2 days i was there.

It’s a bit far from everything. The amount of automatic emails connected to the reservation is annoying (spam). I don’t appreciate they charge extra for every single basic thing you’d expect any hostel to provide: towels, storage for few hours on check out, etc. these should be included in the night rate like in any hotel. The place is very huge, and they mix boys and girls in the rooms - I don’t find that nice and with limited space it’s very inconvenient. I got 2 very inconvenient German girls in my bedroom who were eating in the room and making loud noise….

The beds are comfortable. I like the fact they have individual lights. Shower facilities are good but the toilet cabins are so small. I loved the bar Service and the happy hour drink prices are very good.

The bathrooms and showers on the entire floor are shared, which isn't a big problem for one night but I find it not convenient for longer stays. Also, the shower area requires some improvements. The shower stalls lack doors and instead have only curtains that can be easily moved away, leading to a lack of privacy during showers. Additionally, there are no hooks to hang your clothes in these shower stalls.

The cost is quite fair, the place is fairly tidy, it's conveniently situated near tram stops, and it's easily accessible from the central station.

The room was very small, there was no space at all. Even the bathrooms were very small.

The receptionist (Alex) was a little bit unfriendly, we waited a long time for having our key-cards fixed. Which by the way, de-magnetised almost daily! We had to fix them almost 4 times on our 6 days stay. The bathroom (female only) was dirty, almost all the showers had hairs inside and every shower curtain had the bottom covered in mold. I suggest substituting them with doors. The outlets were 50/50, half the time they were working. When having roommates I suggest locking or hiding your valuables, they tend to steal!

The location was very good, near the tram and the S-Bahn. The pizzeria/kebab shop near the metro station was exceptional. The beds were comfortable and the receptionist (lady) was very kind and helpful! They had a 24h reception and guards for the door, you had to pass the card to get in! Very safe. You also had to use the card to activate the elevator and get into the bathroom. The water was safe to drink (in Berlin it usually is)

mixed dorm room was very dirty. it smells but i know cleanliness also depends on the people inside. men shower room were nasty. some showers don’t have curtains. urine and feces in every toilet bowls in the 4th floor. people hang their towel in the bed stair so it’s hard to climb up. no kitchen & outside food & drink
