Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Very friendly owner and the room we had was immaculate and the bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was enormous and well equipped. Superb place to stay very pleased and would highly recommend.

The staff was very polite and welcoming with good handle of English. so communication was never a problem. The rooms were spacious and clean. breakfast was well planned. not many choices but what was available was very thought out and enough.

We really loved our stay at this hotel. This was the first hotel with our little baby and everything was fantastic. The room was very big and the bed was super nice. Breakfast was amazing and they even have a kids playroom. Hotel owners are super nice. Also the surroundings are so relaxed and beautiful. Do not hassitate to stay here.

It was an exceptional experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every detail of our stay was perfect. We travelled with kids. The rooms were warm, clean, and beautifully designed.

It wasn’t clear that no one would be onsite to check in and you had to make a phone call. Only an issue as it was an overseas call for me therefore quite costly. There were a few empty beer bottles left on the balcony from previous guests.
Good location and friendly owners. Room was modern and had good views of the river. Breakfast was good. Would stay again.

If I have to say something negative it is that not all TVs have the same channels or in the same order. This is normally not a problem, but we were trying to catch some of the Olympics. We would definitely come again!
It is located in a quiet village near the lake, with a train servicing the station. The owners and staff are very friendly. Check-in was easy, and there was ample parking at the front of the property. The room we booked was very big, with multiple bathrooms and comfortable beds. Good Wifi and great (continental) breakfast in the room below with ample choice.

Our stay at Hotel am See was great! Clean, freshly renovated rooms and bathrooms, very comfortable beds. Staff was very friendly and very flexible regarding early or late check in and check out as well as the time of breakfast. We didn't have much time to explore the neighbourhood, but the hotel is in the peaceful and quiet spot with great ice cream place in Kreuzau. I really recommend this hotel!

After 7hrs riding a motorcycle to arrive to an empty property and having to wait for someone to let me in wasn’t the best first impression. Breakfast was uninspiring and probably the worst of my three week road trip. No food available in the evening so only options are expensive restaurant 5 min walk or luckily for me a kiosk by the lake that sold snacks. My room was small overlooking neighbours so had to keep curtains closed at all times. Breakfast was 9 euros.
2 min walk from the lake. Parking outside. Everyone friendly

Rooms were quite small, and two of our guys ended up sharing a double bed. Twin option would have been nice.( Of course we took the mick) Lake view room can't see more than a tiny slither of the lake.
Very friendly family hosts, good motorcycle parking. Nice breakfast. Good location.Handy for visiting Rhine and Mosel areas.

Nothing, everything was good.
Quiet, clean and comfortable. The staff was super friendly - I didn’t get his name but the person that tended to us really went above and beyond. Food was good as well.

It is very warm in the room and since the heat seems to come out of the floor you cannot turn it down. I opened a window but it did not help much - in November!
Solid room, has everything needed, properly dark at night. While not literally on the See, it is a very short walk down the street away. Host was there quickly.

They were super accommodating for my late arrival. Was on a solo long distance cycle trip and would have had to ride another hour in the dark to another hotel if these kind people hadn’t been a little flexible for me. Thank you!

Not a fault of the property, but there was only one restaurant open nearby on a Monday night, and it is very expensive.
Best bed I have ever slept in! Very clean and comfortable. The friendly welcome was delightful after a long day’s drive.
