The rooms were hot and the duvets much too hot for May! it was really hard to sleep, although the beds were very comfortable.

On the first day we arrived it was nice that we could change our clothes from normal to ski outfit in the bathroom of the spa. Was quite handy to have this opportunity and nice that the hotel lets us change. However, one shower on the far right of the bathroom was stinking incredibly like urine every now and then. We believe it is not because it's not clean but because something was wrong with the sewer. It wasn't comfortable to change with that smell however I would like to note that on the last day when we needed to change our clothes from ski to normal I can't recall that there was this awful smell. It is perhaps already resolved or just coincidence.

I like the breakfast and dinner a lot. What was really excellent was the friendliness of the staff. It really gave the hotel some extra charm and the service was great. Was handy that a staff member could speak dutch.

1. No bar in their bierstube open Monday to Thursday. Could only get a drink in the restaurant up to 9pm, but as they had no customers they refused to serve us at 8.15pm on our last night, as the staff were just going home. I pointed out we WERE customers! Guests should be made aware of these possible closures due to the end of their busy season before they book! So we went across the road we went across the road to a bar open for our night cap. We had to let ourselves back in with our room key at the front door at 9.15pm, which we expected. We went to our room to get some luggage to put in the car ready for journey home the next day and the automatic front door would not open from the inside. There was no button to open it/ key lock. We had been told there was a side entrance which we could not find. So effectively we were locked in the hotel! I am sure if the fire alarm had gone off the front door would have opened but that was not the point. But at 9.15pm we were effectively trapped inside and could not go out again, as there were no staff on duty. What if we had a medical emergency or urgently needed something like medication from the car? When I explained to the receptionist in the morning she said she thought the door should have opened from the inside and she did not know what the boss had done when they locked up?! I was not happy as I had a troubled sleep knowing we had no exit from the hotel. Not good when we had a long journey ahead of us! We could not wait to leave and skipped breakfast! I will be making a formal complaint to the hotel and Booking.com in due course.

Cleaners very good and efficient. Hotel in the centre of the town- excellent location. Very poor breakfast, small portions out so you felt you could not take very much. Not as much variety as other hotels visited. Overall very disappointed. Did not bother to go on the last day of our visit as we just wanted to leave due to an incident the night before in the hotel.

When temperatures are low you dont want to enter your hotel room and it be freezing cold. Room needs modernising especially the bathroom.

The pillow cases didnt have pillows in them , they had bed sheets (really) Upgrade coz the room I had was not 4 stars .

Needs upgrading to rooms and better cleaning of the rooms , the only staff that was nice ,was the cleaner and she was so sweet and happy and that make people happy not grumpy old German man .

All pillows given were very uncomfortable - so soft it was like nothing was there which caused a bad night sleep and headache in the morning. Parking is very limited - if your lucky you’ll find a place otherwise consider street parking.

Breakfast was super and the staff were friendly and helpful. Family friendly. Location was also central and just a 10mins walk to the ski area. Swimming pool facilities were clean and warm.

Very nice hotel located in the center of Winterberg! Very quiet, clean and comfortable room with balcony! We will definitely choose this accommodation next time! :)
