It was not really a sociable place or had any engaging activity to meet others and moreso with such a big event going on. Also the do your own bed thing is a bit of a pain when you come tired and everyone is sleeping (I also work at a hostel and bed linen are already prepared for the guests upon arrival).

The receptionists during the day were attentive and even cosplayed for the animagic event, but the security/receptionist that was there when I asked for the towel I had already paid when I check in was really rude. The breakfast was ok.

The beds were not that comfortable and the look of the rooms a bit old school, rooms need a refreshing. Also for the price it could be better.

The view is beautiful and the area is very peaceful, i traveled by car and it was 15 minutes from the center. Rooms were very clean.

Shower was really cold, on the hottest stand it feels warm, but at 38C stand it felt like 30C

people of the djh were very friendly and helpful. Much more friendly then the people of Mannheim.

Beware that Google maps will send you the wrong way if you are coming from the station - so don't exit using the main entrance as they suggest! In the 2 days I stayed there there were long periods of time where the WiFi wasn't working, so I suggest having unlimited data etc. If you plan on making calls, using social media at all during your time here.

No need to bring a lock as your key card opens and closes your locker. Lovely rooms, perfect location with a great view of the Rhine. Lots of breakfast options and super friendly staff and hostel mates. One of my favourite hostel experiences thus far.

Would be cool to add eggs or fruits to the breakfast. Would also be great to have better wifi (it worked ok for androids but not for phones, for some reason)

Clean and warm dorms, corridors, buffet breakfast with a nice view and the location in front of the river and surrounded by nature. I also appreciated the hot water and kindness of staff.

It was not clear if I would have a room of my own (which I didn't at last) and the pillows and beds are uncomfortable.

The housekeeper lady. She never clean the room. I think her just enter to the room to check how the room is and then report in reception and one room less to do it! Really disappoint!! Also we don’t have the papel to put in the door for no disturbing! Means like she always needs to enter in the rooms. I don’t understand why they have to enter in my room!!

Facilities in room are too basic. It looks like a children's room. Beds are too small. There was stool instead on chair with study table. There was NO extra study table lamp. Cupboards are too difficult to use ( there was button on Cupboard, but it is operated with card- that I get to know when I was about to leave the room) I have to buy some token cost around €3, in which I will get some bonus once I complete 6 night stay at JVH hostel. Although I don't want to buy this token/membership but I have to do it at the spot.

Breakfast was fine. Typical German breakfast with brötchen, different cereals, cheese, salami and coffe
