Basic hotel in a small provincial town - ok for an overnight

Basic. The bathroom was not very clean. There is nothing to really love about this hotel.

It came in handy after my flight from Frankfurt was cancelled. It is fine for one night stay if one has no other options. Quiet. Cool quote on the wall.

An average hotel with not much to go for

Since I am now and will be working in the the region, I'm looking for a hotel for a couple of months to stay 2-3 nights every week. The room itself (though quite large) was not very inviting, all rather basic and didn't make me feel comfortable. Furthermore the stated "SKY" channels didn't work. Booking through Booking.com, this was only one of few hotels where one had to pay most of the fees when needed to be cancelled - not flexible enough for me. This is my 4th hotel in January. The room itself, the cancelling issue and 18,-€ for breakfast won't make it my hotel to stay again.

The room was spacious and the Bar/Bistro was inviting with good prices for good food. Free parking! Supermarket next door.

    No ATM

Nice quiet neighborhood. Excellent staff. Great restaurant on site. Only drawbacks were no ATM in site and my taxi driver had a hard time finding the place. However, I had a great short stay!

This particular Mercure location has invested in cosmetic appearance, not in infrastructure maintenance. The first night of our stay, we had to evacuate in the middle of the night due to a broken water pipe. The fires escape had no emergency lighting and there were no staff outside or along the escape route to direct guests. The staff member on duty stayed behind her desk and in the warmth and light throughout the experience. I, as a mother, will never forget that callous disregard for guest safety and that is the issue I sought to have addressed by both local staff of the hotel and Mercure headquarters. Repairs to the water pipe began immediately and the sounds of drilling could be heard well into 3 a.m. Water was restored to the room late the next afternoon. However, there were signs that all was not well as soon as we arrived. The clerk on duty did not even acknowledge me upon arrival as he was on the phone. After waiting for 20 minutes, he informed that the key system was out of order and gave me a universal card to open the room door. That particular problem was soon fixed, but it was only the first of many. The Trip Advisor listing for this property is completely out of date. As a matter of ethics, the hotel should stop having it as its landing page when guests log into their wifi service. The pool, a sought after feature for families, has been turned into a meeting room. The sauna is no longer functional and the clerk I asked to show me where the lights were in the exercise room could not figure out how turn them on for me. In wandering around the room, I saw a dirty towel and broken equipment. As a compromise another clerk offered us passes to the public pool in a nearby village, but it was not within walking distance of the hotel and not an experience we felt would enhance our trip. The most egregious error in this hotel's reviews is its classification as "family friendly.

This hotel features excellent toiletries and a very good cleaning crew.

No air con, 30 degrees, not acceptable. Was not told there was no air con and was not moved, just given a very noisy fan.

    Restaurant staff very friendly.

Wifi could be a little bit stronger in the upper floors and end of the corridor.

I had been in this Hotel many years before it belongs to Accor Group. The change was amazing. Had a small problem with my safe and within 5 min. it was solved. In the Lobby is a PC and printer you can use for free. Very very quiet hotel. Nice BF with a lot of choices. In all areas very friendly and attending staff.

...The 'hint' in the title that it's near the airport isn't quite true; €25 in a taxi and as far as being in Frankfurt, it may be, but that took €120 each way, but that was as much to do with the traffic as the suburbian locale. £250 per night was quite a surprise for what it was too...
