How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Well, my mattress was a bit worn-out and, of course, they couldn't change it on a short term. But at least the staff double-turned it and after that it was better.
The ladies over there are absolutely lovely and helpful. You really feel welcome at this place, which is, TBH, not a very modern one. The location is a nice timbered house, almost 500 years old. So, you cannot expect the floor to be very even, but we liked the atmosphere of this hotel, it sure is an experience, you do not get any other day.

The bedroom was fairly basic but okay. Bathroom wasn’t that big and was quite basic.
Good location. Loads of character. A good breakfast in nice surroundings. Clean and comfortable. A nice beer garden opposite. Bicycle friendly with porch to keep them in.

The room is a bit small and noise insulation is bad. There was a smell in the bathroom due to poor ventilation.

The mattress was obviously old, with a lot of dips and hence quite uncomfortable. The noise from the city woke us up a few times during the night.
The hotel impressed us with its interior design. The location is very comfortable, in the heart of the city. Standard, good-quality breakfasts, friendly stuff.

Some facilities weren't available like an iron and shampoo/conditioner weren't provided in the room. But for a 3* hotel this was totally reasonable.
The staff were very kind, the room was large and comfortable. A fan was provided to battle the heat and worked well. The bathroom was huge. The coffee provided at breakfast was excellent and the breakfast good overall. The hotel was very conveniently located to the train station and the centre of town. The cleaning staff were also good and worked around our schedule some days.

The room is really hot. They did provide a fan so this helped a little but you could not stay in the room at all during the day.

We had no wifi network, let along a signal. When I asked about it, the woman at reception said the town's wifi was unreliable, which of course has nothing to do with hotel's. She was not remotely concerned or apologetic. I later asked for a small refund via booking.com and never heard back after checking in twice. As a short-term-rental host myself, if the wifi isn't working, I go all out to see that it's fixed!
Location is fantastic, right at edge of old town. breakfast is good and rooms are adequate. Hotel is in old timber-style building, which is lovely, though kitschy artwork takes away from historic beauty.

No cold beer in the bar! (=Luxury problem)
Good location 5 minutes from station and the beautiful lake, very near the main church and main square. Everything in center closes at 18:00 sharp, but there is a supermarket only 5 minutes away with longer opening times. Nice old house with a fresh, newly renovated room. Very good breakfast.

The breakfast was too basic. The room was very noisy. The wifi wasn't active in the majority of the room: the only point active for the wifi connection was in a narrow part and in the hallway of the hotel. The forniture of the room was mediocre and it is a pity because the hotel is an old building with an important history. I think the management of the hotel is not good. It should be run better.
