How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Small bathroom and bathroom smell.
Don’t let the outside view of the building fool you. This hotel is a gem! The staff is absolutely lovely, welcoming, and accommodating. The room so very clean, daily housekeeping superb, and the breakfast is lavish. I wish the bathroom was bigger but not a big deal.

Lights in my room were very dim.
Breakfast was amazing. Can't remember the last time I saw a breakfast buffet this broad in Europe. They also provided a transport ticket for the duration of my stay, free of cost. And lunch packages. Check-in is 24/7, automated. Subway (U11) and two trams (107, 108) are a minute or two far at most.

extremely warm and friendly staff throughout the stay. brilliant location. lots of local shops and restaurants. 20 mins walk to the conference centre through a nice neighbourhood. loved the self service bar. basic features in the rooms but all working fine, hot shower, comfy clean bed, and incredibly quiet out my back window on the top floor.

tv could have been a new one as it would allow foreigners to enjoy entertainment on rainy days. To keep in mind - if you a larger sized person the shower entrance might end up being too small for you.
the location was good. unfortunately they had construction on the same street at some mornings but there's nothing the hotel could have fone.

Non-air-conditioned room with small bathroom and television without international channels, but these small flaws are amply compensated by the kindness, services and location of the structure. Highly recommended hotel
Very good staff available to any request for clarification and explanations regarding places to dine. places also present on the tablet in the room. The structure has made umbrellas available to go out as, when we arrived, it was pouring rain. big breakfast in small room, but with everything. With breakfast they also provide a bag to take away as a packed lunch or snack. A wonderful initiative especially appreciated by those who travel and have little time to stop. .

The lighting in the room was a bit stark - bright overhead light or small bedside reading lamps were the only options. And not to be ungrateful but it would have been even better if we could have been sent the travel pass before we arrived, then we would not have had to buy train tickets from the airport!
Good location for the Messe Essen exhibition centre. we walked it in 15 minutes but it is a short walk from a metro station and then two stops. Took us about an hour to get to and from Dusseldorf airport by train. A selection of restaurants and bars also nearby. Staff could not have been more helpful. Good breakfast as well and they allowed us to leave our bags there for most of the day after we checked out. Hotel gave us a city-wise travel pass which covered all buses, trams and trains, even as far as the airport on our way back..

Breakfast was great and the staff were really helpful. On arrival, the reception manager even helped me to find a parking space, which is quite difficult in the area of the hotel.

No extra blanket in the room (at least I did not found one, apparantly there was one somewhere hidden), luckily there was good heating in the room to make sleep possible
The owner gave me a free breakfast in the morning, because he could not help me in the evening to find an extra blanket.

Nothing in particular, maybe I can signalise that the bed sheets were a bit old, although very clean. Maybe I would have appreciated a different soap option, but it wasn't that relevant.
I have really appreciated the kindness and availability of the staff. It is an old structure, with a charm and it is spotlessly clean. The breakfast was very nice and the breakfast room was comfortable. In the room, there was a kettle with tea and coffee and it was really appreciated.
