Sound isolation may lead to questions - stairs are far from being quite (wood). In our case hotel was not so full and people were calm so we had no any problem. But if hotel would be loaded more - 'stairs runners' could be a problem. Hotel does not seem to be suited for the stays longer than couple of nights. It is expected that you do not need anything than just place to take a bath and sleep. For tourists - right assumption but it is definitely not for long term stayers.

We saw personal only where they were needed: minimal check-in procedures, breakfast and pretty informal check-out. All formalities were really quick and minimal. Reception was actually in the next cafe building. I think during the high season they have everything (there is a place for the keys keeper and so on) but around the low season it is just not needed. On the other side - we did not need any help - everything was just working: single key for entrance and room (I know those systems), well maintained locks, clean minimalistic room (but space was pretty enough). Room had 3 outlets (one right near the bed). There was an additional pillow, standard set of towels, minimal things for the bath, paper - everything very pragmatic and to the point. We loved this approach. Breakfast - buffet, not huge variety but enough. For us it was perfectly fine. And location is just perfect.

Some noise from the street was audible at night, but it comes with the territory: sound travels easily in narrow, old streets with cobble stones. It's an acceptable price given the excellent location.

Floorboards are a bit noisy at night (room above) but this is because of the structure of the old buildings and is not really a big issue, just good to know.

The pillows were very strange and shapeless. Otherwise, the bathrooms will need to be updated in the future, but given the price, they were adequate.

Great location in the center of Monschau and a very friendly host made our stay wonderful, we felt very welcome, despite strenuous circumstances (recent flooding in the basement). The breakfast was very nice as well, with good buns.
