    - No air conditioning in the room, so when temperatures outside go over 20 degrees, the room was too warm. Opening the window doesn't help much, because it is so small. - Parking lot is pretty small and getting up there with a big car might be a little bit tricky

    - Breakfast was pretty good and there was a nice amount of variety - Very friendly and helpful staff - The hotel is very nice looking inside - Some good restaurants/cafes nearby - The area is quiet at night

The hotel is very cute. The staffs are very friendly. Since the hotel is located in the middle of the hill, the view from the room is very nice. It takes less than 10 min walk to both the castle and town. We really enjoyed the stay.

    Nothing.

The Owners and staff were very good and made our stay very pleasant . If we needed any information about sights or tours etc the owner was straight onto the internet and got back to us with the minutes which I really liked. Nothing was a problem to sort out for us.

    Having to leave...

This hotel is wonderful. Lovely owners and staff - so friendly and helpful and always happy to give advice and information about the region and great places to visit and to book a table at a restaurant for you, the rooms are so clean and comfortable and have great views of Wernigerode, excellent breakfast, parking right next to the hotel. This was our third and hopefully not final visit here. Always our first choice in this lovely town!

    Leaving is hard...!

Another lovely stay in this excellent hotel. The staff are very welcoming and helpful and are happy to give any information about the facilities and the local area, which is beautiful. The centre of Wernigerode is only a few minutes walk away, as is the schloss, and both are well worth seeing. There are many interesting places that you can easily visit from here: the metre gauge steam railway (the Harzer Schmalspurbahn), the beautiful town of Goslar, the amazing mine at Rammelsburg, the wonderful church in Gernrode and the lovely town of Quedlinburg, to name but a few. There are some places further away to which you can easily drive as well: Leipzig, where the church in which JS Bach worked and is buried, Colditz Castle and Buchenwald are places that we visited. Many thanks to the proprietor of this hotel and his excellent staff for a wonderful stay!

If you have difficulty in walking, you may find the steps down to the road a struggle. Beware of the tight turn and awkward camber if on two wheels when entering the parking area..

Location was great, near to the town and castle. Staff on arrival were helpful and managed to locate me a kettle for making tea in the room. The room was large with a view over the town rooftops, clean and comfortable with decent breakfast to start the day. The Motorcycle was safely locked into the car park at night as they lock the vehicle access gates around 10pm. Cost was a little high but we decided to stretch our overnight into a great 2 night stay.

The hotel's location means the nearby footpaths are steep but well worth the climb.

We liked the way we were welcomed and shown our room and hotel facilities. Food and service in the breakfast room were excellent. The hotel does not have a restaurant but we were given a map identifying nearby restaurants within walking distance.

You can get quite cold in the Harz, especially after a long hike, so we would've welcomed the opportunity to make tea/coffee in our room. However, the owner was able to brew us a pot at a moment's notice, so even this minor criticism might be moot.

The staff were exceedingly welcoming and friendly at all times, and the building itself was one of the coziest I've stayed in. The view from the breakfast-room was great, and although we didn't get to try it due to the weather, the patio also seemed like a lovely place to enjoy an evening.

Situated on steep hill on way to Castle. "Budget Room" was in "Annex House" some 37 steep steps down hill and across hill walkway to Castle so had to climb these for breakfast. No Restaurant although this is advertised locally. A steep walk back from Town after dinner - especially if it is raining! Was not told when booking that the "Budget" room was in Annex

Staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke good English. Good parking space both at main hotel and at "Annex". Breakfast was good. Internet connection easy.

Had a very good experience here. Loved the friendly and laid back atmosphere, this house has a special history connected to the close by castle. The owners welcomed us with a smile and did everything to inform and help during the visit. Also loved the owners two dogs who were allowed to meet the hotel guests. Much better staying here than at a formal and impersonal hotel chain.
