locating the hotel was difficult- google maps does not take you to the location correctly. Found it a bit crazy that they charged for car parking where there is at least 10 guest parks at front of hotel off the road- should maybe just be incorporated in the price of the room.

Surprise charges. It would have been nice to be informed of the additional "Spa town" tax of 2€ per person, per day, and the additional cost for parking. Small amounts yes, but no one likes surprise bills. I appreciate this is a very old property. But the single glazed windows helped make the room cold at night and the radiators in room 4 of the lower house didn't appear to work. I imagine it would be quite uncomfortable in the winter.

The location is stunning and the hotel was very picturesque. Breakfast was fresh and a large selection. The manager was very friendly and a great source of local information.

The rooms got very hot during the nights, no aircon only a fan. I was told they couldn’t install aircon because of the old buildings and rules. And that’s totally fine.

Nice service and friendly personal. The rooms were fine, yet quite old fashioned. The breakfast was delicious and also the coffee machine was nice.

Nothing, everything was great!

The location was within easy walking distance to downtown and to the Castle; onsite parking was convenient; incredibly quiet (no noise from the street or other guests); very nice variety of breakfast items to choose from and the option to sit outside on the patio to enjoy the view was a great bonus; the staff was very knowledgeable about the area and provided nice recommendations for activities and restaurants.

A bit far from the public transportation.

An old-charming hotel. The location is great if you enjoy the natural view. Very close to the castle and not far from the center of town. The breakfast buffet is ok, but you can have it on the terrace, from where you can enjoy the view. The suite is large enough for couples or a family. But, do remember to bring the slippers with you.

Really the hotel is great. Location is so wonderful and the views from the room really incredible. The breakfast was very delicious and you can choose what you like. It's very close to centre and Castle Wernigerode is near. We plan to come again in winter.

There was quite a big problem we faced. We were checking in late and the administrator said we could pick up the key to our room from a box using a code. However, the code just would not reach us either by email or by sms. May be this is not the hotel's fault and something was wrong with our internet and mobile connection, but still. When we arroved st the property, all the doors were locked, there was no one inside. We tried conractong the admonustration by the mobile number ... to no response. Luckily, there was a German couple who managed to contact the administration by their mobile, so the helped us with the code and the key. Had it not been for them, we would have had to look for another hotel, while the pay had been charged immediately after booking. Probably the administration has to check whether their emergency mobile number is actually available to international calls.

It is really a nice authentic place. The hotel is in an old villa on a hill halfway to a puctiresque castle. The room was clean and comfortable, with really a wonderfull view of the city.

Icy road on approach wasnt easy as the road curved almost 180 upwards but there was too much ice for a safe climb. There was no water boiler in the room - for warm water or to make tea - which we expect as standard when we pay so much. Seating capacity in breakfast room wasnt what you expect when you pay so much per night. Breakfast spread and quality was nothing to write home about and certainly below expectation when you pay so much.

I loved staying here. The Schlossberg is old world in its style and that is a big part of its charm. Our room was generous in size and very comfortable. We had a front room with a marvellous view over the town. Both of the staff who helped me could not have been kinder. Breakfast was a big, delicious spread. it’s a few steps to town, and a steep walk to the castle. It’s lovely place to stay.

The breakfast was amazing. Many choices to choose from along with excellent service. The breakfast room had an amazing view which added to the morning meal.

My husband and I loved everything. The romantic atmosphere, the cleanliness of the room. Breakfast was great too, and it is just from a short walk from the castle. We will definitively return!

The beds were VERY uncomfortable and extremely soggy. We were woken by loud guests coming back to the hotel at about 2am,.

Good location, hotel reception was very helpful and reduced our charge when they discovered we would need to leave before breakfast.

Very friendly staff, good breakfast buffet (even for vegetarians like myself), close to the castle and far from busy streets but city center still easily accessible on foot.
