Relaxing stay in the Harz skiing area.

Booking with "Booking.com" meant we were given one of the lesser "Superior Double" rooms. We were moved to a better class of "Superior Double" after querying the staff. It seems that if you book direct with the hotel you get a better room (although the description is the same) than using Booking.com or similar websites. This is not the first time we have experienced this kind of discrimination. This is no fault of the hotel, it's just the way they work.

Super wellness area. Good location. Plentiful breakfast. Helpful staff.

The bed was uncomfortable, and there were two single beds joined together (instead of a queen bed), even when we had booked a double bed room for two persons. The masseuse had called in sick, and the hotel did not have an alternative.

Our room ("villa" is what they called it) was pretty huge, and so was the bathroom. The room was pure luxury; it was like a mini apartment. There was a music system in the room on which we could play some nice music (added to the ambience). There were toiletries provided in the bathroom. The sauna and swimming pool were good too, and were included in the price. Also included in our booking was the dinner (a three course meal). We had preferred to eat vegetarian, and the kitchen accommodated to our needs. The breakfast was simple and typical. There is free but limited parkings available at location (inside the hotel premises). The area close to the hotel is nice with some restaurants in the vicinity.

The lady at breakfast was aprupt and not very helpful and we had to guess how things worked, especially the table allocation and where things were.

The lady who showed us our room was very friendly & helpful. The room was big and the beds comfortable

It would have been nice to have a choice of a room at the front (overlooking the town) or at the back of the hotel, the website nor room availability on Booking.com provides this information. The bar area is really great, good choice of drinks/cocktails but the light is a bit bright, dimming the lights will make the bar area more cosy.

The hotel makes your stay very personal by having your table for breakfast marked/reserved with your name on it, every morning there is a leaflet on your breakfast table with tips for a trip/the chef's recommendation for dinner/weather forecast. The bathrobe/towels/slippers which you can use to go down to the swimming pool and sauna, the complimentary bottle of water in your room. Excellent hotel.

That the bath tub wasn't fit for a couple. That there wasn't a lock on the door.

The rooms are huge and comfortable. They thought of every need possible in the kitchen. Nice views from the room.
