The pillows were too thick for my personal taste, and there was no mini fridge in the room. The bath/shower was also quite a big step over/down when getting out

Some of the furnishings/furniture was slightly past it’s best - marks/scuffs on the desk/console table and wobbly/broken leg on coffee table.

Nice room - very comfortable bed and manually adjustable heating. Good sized bathroom with a full-size bath and shower over. Free bottle of water/tea/coffee in room - which is always a nice touch.

There are drug dealers in the neighborhood and the receptionist today was unusual.

The room was very clean. Very comfortabel bed, clean towels, coffee machine, tv in the room, view to the patio. The breakfast was very very good, with lots of varieties. The personal of the hotel is nice and welcoming, smiling. It felt like they care about you and try to help anytime you need. Small details like products to clean shoes, laundry bag and you can have your clothes washed if needed. Underground parking. Proximity to the city centre and shops/restaurants.

The beds are low and very narrow, and my paralyzed husband had difficulty moving to the bed and back. If your car is higher than 1.80 m, you will have to look for parking around the hotel on the nearest streets, and then stay up all night worrying that your car is intact.

Personally, I didn't think the neighbourhood had much to offer beyond a rock bar around the corner - that's not to say the Ramada wasn't excellent though. The hotel is probably better suited for business travellers rather than sight seers looking to stroll around.

The bed was huge and very comfortable, and the shower was hot. The room was spacious, and everything was clean. The central station is 10 or 15 minutes walk away, or a very short subway trip. I don't generally avail of daily housekeeping when I am on holidays anyway, but I thought it was clever the way the hotel offers vouchers to redeem at the bar for those content not to have towels refreshed daily, etc. It's win-win in terms of reducing workloads on housekeeping staff and offering customers something they might prefer. The staff were fantastic and I would have to single out Frau Gashke at the reception, who was very helpful, kind and patient. Thank you!!

A bit isolated from the main city centre by a wide, busy road; it's a bit of a performance to get to it on foot.

Very clean, comfortable room with armchair, desk and coffee machine. Good, varied buffet breakfast. Helpful staff, who allowed me to print out several train tickets when I needed to process a reclaim. Not far from central Essen sights like cathedral and former synagogue. Tram station a couple of minutes' walk away with direct trams to Zeche Zollverein. Good value, at least in winter.
