As I expected a "vintage experience" there was nothing I didn't like!

It is, as described by other raters, a hotel that surely was one of the top addresses in the city some years ago. It is almost like travelling back in time a bit, if you expect this you will love your stay. It was clean, comfortable, breakfast was good and it is located perfectly in the center of Berchtesgaden. I will surely come back!

Limited parking. When a spot was not available you had to use the local parking garage. It was about 1/4 mile away. There was no discount. When you did park at the site they still charged you.

Old world charm. Rooms seemed newer and renavated.

I stayed at Hotel Wittelsbach for 3 days and 2 nights and I had amazing experience. Mr. Franz & Mr. Felix at the reception were loving and gave a very warm welcome. Mr. Franz, who I came to know, is an Enfield motorbike enthusiast, like me. Awesome! His proactiveness in providing crucial and to the point information is absolutely spot on. For example, guest cards to be used in local transports, a short trip to Königssee, critical timings about last & first buses n more. Rooms & bathrooms were spacious, clean and quite. Breakfast was well stocked and well prepared. Hotel is located jus 5mins from nearest bus stop. Check-in and check-out procedures were simple & super fast. Overall, I would strongly recommend this Hotel to other fellow travelers.

This hotel is very run down with uncomfortable beds, and we had a view of a wall. The breakfast buffet all goes early, so there won't be much left if you arrive after 8. They send out an email saying you can't book in after 6, which isn't helpful. Worst experience I've had on booking.com. You'll get much better hotels for less in this area. Walls are paper thin, noise from other guests. Avoid at all costs!!

Very comfortable apartments and exceptionally welcoming host (she even brought us a cake one day!). The apartments are situated in a quiet place just across the river to a supermarket, bus stop, shops etc. The house is beautiful, cosy and warm. The kitchen have all utilities one possibly need. Most important: you get a Stubai card that grants you free ride on valley buses and mountain lifts. It spares a lot of money!

The parking was horrible, we stayed in a suite with a bed and pullout sofa. Per hotel policies children under four stay free using existing beds, we have a two and three year old, the reservation said 2 adults 2 children. We were charged 70€ extra for the kids not because we were using the pullout but Bc the one sheet and one pillow they offered us over a three day trip. When this was brought to the attention of the owner I'm assuming upon checkout he was very rude, wouldn't talk about, wasn't interested in seeing our reservation, or the hotel policies that are stated on booking.com, saying they were "wrong" and basically told it was not possible and to take it up with booking.com, and walked away. The beds were uncomfortable, the pillows were so thin and felt like they had been stuffed with cotton balls. It was a very noisy location, the free wifi was horrible never worked, and it was way outdated. All in all this place was a horrible experience save your money and checkout some other amazing places in town!

The view was amazing and the only pro for staying here.

Parking is challenging, requiring maneuvering along a narrow alley only to find there is no space available. We parked in the convenient public underground lot overnight, only a block away for 6.50€ for 24 hours, as opposed to 5€ for the hotel parking. It was noisy outside (or could have been hotel guests?) late into the night, not sure if it was a one-time party or is always that way. Traffic was loud when we opened the windows.

Room was clean and comfy. Interior ambience of the hotel is lovely. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was quite nice, including all the usual buffet items. The hotel is centrally located which makes it easy to walk to restaurants and events. Berchtesgaden is near the Almbachklamm Gorge, which is a stunning walk along the river. An easy 45-minute hike takes you to a waterfall, then there are further destinations.

Extremely basic breakfast, the lady replenished the very modest choice of breakfast menu very carefully to save up every piece of bread, slice of cheap salami, eggs and so on. The breakfast coffee - awful. And it is recommendable to go for the breakfast as early as possible to avoid the glance on the empty table. It was even comical to follow.

The room facing the street was spacious, clean, well furnished with a balcony, but noisy. Very nice town, fabulous environs, the National park Berchtesgaden, lakes, Almbachklamm gorge, unique mountain landscape, a number of places of the 2. world war history. Noise from cars on the street in front of hotel. There is not much traffic, but the noise is magnified by the building right across the street. Not a problem when the balcony door is closed but you might want a room at the back of the hotel if the noise bothers you. I disagree with other reviewers about the decor - yes, the bathroom tile is out of date but the the room furnishings are mostly new and tasteful. The wardrobe is a bit worse for wear and its doors and room doors need oil since they squeak.

Stunning mountain views from balcony and a 5 minute walk to town center shopping and restaurants. Walk or hike the hills right behind the hotel. Inexpensive parking at hotel or in nearby public garage. Strong, free internet. Clean room and good, basic German breakfast (included).

More food choices in the town.

The alps around the town are amazing. Lake Konigssee is a bus ride away. Hitlers eagles nest is also close by.

My room faced the street so it was a bit noisy. The rooms are a bit dated, but worked perfect fine.
