Reception closed at 3 pm on a Sunday but no email advice sent to us and the place was all locked up, so if another guest had not been so kind as to ring allow us entry we could have been in a difficult situation. Booking.com indicated that when we arrived at 6 pm there would be someone there to receive us. Even at check out the next morning there was no one there either to allow us to pay! If you have booked at a hotel it is reasonable to expect someone to be available to facilitate check in and check out. The hotel could benefit from considerable investment.

My room was a little tired, but so was I at the end of three packed days, so I didn't mind that much.

As a single traveller, it's always important to me to feel safe and comfortable in the places I'm staying in. Hotel Skandia definitely ticked these boxes. The staff were friendly and helpful and all spoke good English, which made up for my lack of Danish. While the hotel itself did not have any extra facilities such as a restaurant or gym, staff were very keen to point me in the right direction - for example that bikes can be hired from the nearby Hotel Madam Sprunck. Having a bike enabled me to also venture into some of the city's surrounding areas, such as the woodlands of Marienlyst. The main attraction, Kronborg Castle, was in easy walking distance. Helsingor is a city full of history and lovely people who are keen to share it.

Nothing really. Just keep in mind this is a no frills hotel: no room service, no gym, no restaurant, no bar, no conference, no nothing... They will give you a room and breakfast at a relatively low cost, that's it!

A simple but perfectly usable low cost hotel. Excellent location in central Helsingör next to railway station and ferry terminal. Very good breakfast for this level of hotel, good selection of fresh bread.

The hotel is just opposite to the small train station of Helsingor. The town is pretty good to visit. Not just for the castle but the atmosphere of the place. Hotel rooms are spacious and clear to stay. Breakfast contains all necessary choices and fresh fruits. My mother likes it very much. 5mins walking to the port, there you can take 20mins boat to Heisenberg of Sweden. It's pretty interesting to explore the fairy tale style streets there, walking along the bay side is also good.

Paying extra 200DKK/night for a shaky child bed. Asked if an egg can be boiled a bit longer (fully cooked) so that our 1.5y son could have it, the staff was very rude to say it's not possible. Also, asked if there is more chocolate powder (they placed an empty container), was also being replied in a not-kind way that it's finished. And they didn't replace a new box the next day.

Location is great and convenient, right across the train/metro/bus station and next to all shopping and restaurant area of Helsingor. Simple breakfast is provided. Check-in/out process is very easy and smooth.

Well situated next to the railway station and busy ferry port on the edge of the old town. Fascinating to watch the ferries and the train that goes down the street. Close to the famous Kronborg, Hamlet's castle. Decor dated but clean and tidy. Good breakfast. Comfy beds. Lots of sockets for charging electronic devices.

Bad hotel...too run down, very bad bathroom and dangerous due to crazy ledge in the center of the floor and shower curtain in the way at all times!! Extremely out-dated, not charming in the least, making it uncomfortable and unpleasant. Very poor breakfast. I am not that bothered about breakfast, a good piece of bread and decent coffee is all I need but even this was not edible/drinkable...For the price we paid, OUTRAGEOUS!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! Noisy, ofcourse, due to location, windows closed at night making the room uncomfortably hot and stuffy. Slot of banging doors inside as well as staff wondering about, entering breakfast room getting coffee.. People of unknown origin wondering around and hanging about..very bizarre..Huge mistake booking this accommodation. We were not amused to say the least and we have seen our share being extremely well traveled. One night was one too many :(

If you don't like church bells you may find this hotel a little noisy, but that's the charm of Helsingør.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is absolutely perfect - next to the train station and ferry terminal and on the edge of the old town. Sea view from our room. Well done no frills accommodation with absolutely lovely staff.
