Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyAlthough there was a stove in the living/eating area they didn't heat it up. But that's maybe because we were the only guests.
Nice hostel, very close to Laguna Quilotoa. As we made a last minute reservation we had to wait a little bit for somebody to open. Breakfast and dinner were good, but not as good as in the other hostels on the Quilotoa loop hike the family was super nice and we even got a little gift when leaving. Also it was very clean.

United StatesWe stayed 3 nights, 2 would have been better. But our 3rd day we took a bus to the Sat market which was fun. It is really cold here and they do not use heat. That is the way it is. We did not have exact change for our room and had to ask several times for the change. We finally got on the 2nd evening.
The family was nice and polite. The included Breakfast was delicious, dinner was nutritious. Close to the bus stop. They had a portable heater for us to use in our room. Also a shared sun room with furniture. Nice place to be warm if the sun is out.

United StatesThere was one night of our stay when the water cut off. We messaged the owners via WhatsApp but didn’t receive a response. It’s possible this was a village wide outage and out of the owners’ control, but it would have been nice to receive a response.
Martita’s is a very cute hotel with a lot of charm. It was clean and cozy and is in a great location - only a few minutes walk away from the bus stop, restaurants, artesanal shops and hiking trails. The breakfast (included in the price) was great: eggs, bread, fruit, yogurt and coffee/tea/water. The dinner was also tasty, filling and reasonably priced. Our room had a space heater, but it can still be quite chilly inside so bring warm clothes!

United StatesThe owner also runs a store somewhere in town and it took a while (over an hour) for her to show up to check us in.
The location was just inside the Quilotoa gate and an easy walk to the crater edge. Dinner and breakfast were included which was great. There was a small stove in our room which we lit for heat. We enjoyed this feature.

United KingdomLack of soap in the rooms and the communal toilet was unhygienic. We asked for soap, but clearly none at the property at all, which is unpleasant. Room could have been cleaned - a few stray hairs and stains on the beds / sheets. It felt like they were being a bit mean with provisions - only one towel and one tiny sachet of shampoo given for two people. When we arrived there was only a young child at reception. It took a while before anyone appeared. Food was fine, just basic.
It was quiet and the room was comfortable enough. We were able to refill our water bottles. Although it was cold we didn’t have any issues sleeping as the blankets provided were sufficient.

NetherlandsIt was very cold in the hotel and the room and since we were the only guests no one offered to make a fire untill we asked them to. We got a small heater for the room which was hardly enough to get comfortabel. The staff did not make an effort to communicate but only answered when asked a question. Apparently there was a party in the village that day with extremely loud music which went on untill way after midnight so we hardly slept at all.
Location very close to crater lake, the food was nice but limited portions.

United KingdomWe did not get to stay at the property as it was closed when we arrived due to there being no running water. We didn’t receive an email or any other message to say this was the case, and so had to run around Quilatoa trying to find a new place to stay last minute. Thankfully we didn’t get charged.
