Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

TurkeyIn most places in Egypt I did not feel safe, but my experience here was different. Mohamed introduced me to his family, I met his sisters, they offered me tea and food. As a solo female traveler I felt safe and comfortable, they always treated me like family. Prices are high (especially for taxi and guide) but this is normal if you travel alone. Before coming it is a good idea to call the property and ask if there are other guests, so you can share costs. For two or three people it will be more reasonable. As a tourist in Egypt you always pay more, but you should not focus on that. Because anywhere in the world it is rare to find such warm, welcoming and trustworthy people. I felt very good here and I am grateful for everything.

United KingdomNot much hot water in the shower for 3 people. Also from uk transfers cost £50 1 WAY .i get that drivers dont know exact location but there is no signs or post to let you know. Also if driver does call staff little annoyed. But prices from the camp is $90 which is much much more for 1 way. If it was little cheaper you would use the camp transfers.
Location was amazing

United KingdomIt would be good to know the prices of the tours and lunch/dinners before booking!
A well informed welcome to St Catherines with well-thought out trips and tours around the area. It was a quiet and peaceful place with plently of communal areas for guests to relax in the outdoors. The trips and tours were well times and at a reasonable price! Thank you!

Lebanon- Cleanliness of bathroom could be better, and maybe more amenities (shower towel , soap) - i would suggest to maybe set a quiet time in the afternoon/evening where everybody (including staff) would go on quietly and not be loud, to allow guests seeking some peaceful time on the outdoor settings to have it :)
Cozy, authentic, friendly and helpful staff, peaceful setting, very good food

Czech RepublicNot the cleanest place, nevertheless of an egyptian standard, though. The blankets really feel dusty to be honest
Great people that help you organize everything, including tours and a bus to Cairo! In general the place feels cozy and you get a nice experience with the local beduins. The rooms have heaters - a must for freezing cold nights! I would stay again here. Rather in warmer months though 🙂

United StatesI’d love if there were a map of places in saint catherine available. I spent my first day exploring and looking for a certain place and spent lots of time looking for one place. The location of the camp is deep in the town and 45 minutes walk from the monastery and mountain trails so definitely something to keep in mind.
I loved the food and the staff. Mohamed and Salah the brothers in charge were so kind and operate the camp with honor and direction. The firepit and dining hall let me experience environments livelier than the hostels I’ve been in. The fire brings people together in the cold and the tea was amazing. Taxi to the monastery and mountain are available. Salah treated me like family and always made sure I enjoyed myself. Sha’ban was my mountain guide and taught me about the history of the Gebeliya tribe while hiking. Great staff! Cool animals around the property are a plus.

IndiaThe room, food and everything was expensive. I took a tour from the hotel and I was charged USD 35, whereas others from the hotel were charged USD 30 for the same tour.
The bed was comfortable and the room had a nice heater, which was very much essential for sub-zero degree temperature at night.

EgyptRoom was quite cold, but they kindly provided us with heavy blankets when asked. I thought the prices for the guide hire were quite high, especially when compared to what is advised as the regular price on travelling sites (more than twice as high!)
Lovely, kind staff. I appreciated the layout of the buildings and the proximity of small shops and restaurants. The place is quiet and calm. We especially appreciated that the camp accomodated us with an early check-in, which was amazing after a whole night drive. Our favorite memory is of the kind white stray dog lurking around the camp who was sadly quite injured (hopefully someone can help with some antibiotics, please). Advice: have cash (dollars or euros) with you when visiting this camp, sometimes the cash machines in the proximity do not work. They do not accept local currency The trips that you book with the camp are well organized. As far as i understood, when you book the camp, the guieds are required to take you on only through the camp administration and this may influence the prices. The charges: For a guided tour they charge 50€, or 35€ if you don't care whether the guide speaks your language. They told us it's the same price for a single person or a group of six people

IndonesiaWifi in my room was very weak. At my first morning (before climbed-up to the mountain), the breakfast was not on-time prepared and the did not offered a drink (even just for a glass of water). Dinner was good actually, but once again they did not offer a drink (even just for a glass of water as did to other guest). I also asked for laundry services. But I don't know what the detergent they used which ended up with my blue shirt no longer blue as before and my brown towel no longer brown. I think it too much bleach. Overall, it overpriced. If I have second chance to visit St Catherine, I will choose to stay in other hotel.
I stayed for 2 nights and not much that I like. Ther room were just standard.

United KingdomNothing really. But just something for future guests to bear in mind - don't expect a 5 star luxury hotel. This is a simplistic bedouin camp, which offers the right vibe for your pilgramages amongst the mountains.
I loved the people working here. So friendly and very helpful. I was glad to be offered an upgrade to the room, and the upgraded room was perfect, with a balcony with a great view of the mountains and private bathroom. The food was nice. WiFi was good. And the location was amongst the mountains which is perfect.
