Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

I enjoyed my stay overall, but I encountered an issue upon departure. After realizing I left behind my MacBook charger, I promptly called and followed up with an email, yet received no response. It would have been appreciated to receive the same level of service post-stay as during my visit. While the hotel is situated in a beautiful neighbourhood, it's worth noting that walking to nearby attractions might not be feasible for everyone, as it's not that centrally located.
My stay at the hotel was great. The room was cozy and had everything I needed. Room service was quick and available late, which was a nice bonus. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly. I'd definitely recommend this place to others!

All was fine but there was a construction nearby and that was a little disturbing because of the noise.
Location was exceptional. They upgraded me to a large suite so everything was perfect.

Great location, within 7 mins walk to closest subway/metro and 10 mins away to Paseige de Gracia. Friendly, welcoming and very helpful staff. Room was clean and spacious enough for 2 persons.

If you’re sensitive to noise I would avoid booking this property. I was in a room at the end of a hallway and heard everything, conversations from the room next door, people in the hallway, cleaners talking and banging around, stomping upstairs. The walls and floors are very thin. I was awoken multiple times a night and early in the morning so I never felt well rested. Also there was no ironing board and iron or coffee or tea in the room which was a shame (I should have read the room inclusions more carefully) however I would expect simple offerings like this when paying $250 AUD per night

The only unpleasant thing was that we were hearing too much of the noise of the other room's waterworks and woke up a little early because of it.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was clean and nice.

sometime we hear noise in the middle of night with toilet flush and people walking in corridor. I think this will be there in most of the hotel..
Hotel was good...it clean daily...staff were friendly. room was small but good for 1 person. Very good location. you find taxi all the time, metro and bus very near. mini supermarket in the corner open till late night ..lots of restaurant near.

The cleaning staff in the morning were very loud... at 7:30 in the morning there was shouting and talking outside the bedrooms which was very disturbing. This is my only complaint that the cleaning staff need to be more mindful of guests! Peace and quiet is important when you are on holiday!
The hotel was great! I had a fantastic stay. The location was perfect and the staff were incredibly friendly! The room was very comfortable and I would rate the cleanliness 10 stars. I requested to be moved to a quieter room and the front desk reception staff made this happen immediately and were very professional.

The only 2 negatives- The first was that the mattress in our room was not comfortable. It showed slight sagging, and I awoke to a sore back and body. The second negative was that the rooms were a bit small.
Hotel Balmes was a very nice boutique hotel. You can tell that they strive to provide an upscale experience for their customers while offering reasonable prices. I was very appreciative of the thick towels, robes, and slippers provided. We were also given a souvenir, reusable tote bag. The check-in clerk was professional and provided excellent service. The breakfast was nice, and there was a variety of options. The decor in the room and common areas was tasteful. We were offered complimentary access to the Egyptian Museum, however we did not have time to enjoy this extra perk.

Double bed was two singles pushed together - kept splitting apart throughout the night as the floor was wooden and the legs on the beds had wheels. The mattresses were sinking (far from firm) and woke up with lower back pain as a result. Artefacts in the room not to my liking. Not easy to close the net and curtains fully leaving a gap for sunlight. Walls super light letting in sound from other rooms.
