A lovely place which has managed to retain some of its old palacio features and is brimming over with plants, including some on the very nice roof terrace. The staff were very nice; the receptionists were jolly and helpful, and spoke good English. Just outside the front door was a pedestrianised area which buzzed with the local Spanish drinking their coffee etc.

Apartment very badly equipped, sparse miscellany of non matching cups, glasses etc, difficult to even make a cup of tea. Certainly couldn’t have self catered there. “Double bed” was two singles, made up as singles, pushed together. Air conditioning dripped on the floor. Decor tired, marks on walls, shabby furniture, graffiti on the coffee table. Not somewhere you’d want to spend any time. Poor value given the relatively expensive price. Won’t be staying here again.

Perfect location. Apartments situated in a lovely old building, immaculately restored. Excellent breakfast at associated El Bocoy restaurant.

It was hard to find one; but maybe the fact that you can hear the noise from the street but it’s to be expected from on old building

An establishment with a lot charm; my favorite place I stayed in in Spain so far. The location is great; close to the water and the ferry to Cadiz by foot and right next to the market so there is a lot life around the area. The two room appartement was great and comfortable; and a great plus was the presence of a washing machine so I could finally have clean clothes! Very cheap for the quality!

A home away from home. The facilities were excellent with everything I could possibly need. The building has historical significance and the information and photos etc were informative. The kitchen utensils were a little basic. For eg, there was no spatula for frying. But otherwise kitchen was fine.

The flat was spacious and warm. They also had an extra heater if the evenings turned cold. Perfectly located equi distance from train and ferry terminals. And right next to the market, grocers , bakers and a supermarket. So very convenient for getting food in. And Calle Luna with all its marvellous restaurants was just at the bitt

beautiful peaceful apartment in stunning old town with indoor veg/fish market round corner. The apartment being interior was quite gloomy in the day but you have roof terrace and outdoor cafes so who cares. Super clean and attended to daily by cleaners. powerful shower/bath. Comfy bed. Helpful staff. 30/40 minutes walk to La Puntilla beach, white sand, pine forest, excellent fresh sea food at El Castilito at end of beach. Ferry to Cadiz nearby hotel and an adventure in itself. I felt very safe at all times despite being a lone female traveller . El Puerto is a beautiful and down to earth town with a kind of faded grandeur, amazing light and warm people - not touristy in September when I went, glorious weather, no tourists. I loved everything about my stay and will definitely be back. For the standard of accommodation, the history of the building and the location it has been my favourite holiday in Spain. No need for car: buses and trains efficient and you can get a train from Seville if you go to that airport.

Room was very dark and Very, very noisy. Workman was washing down the walls on the patio outside our room early on Saturday morning. Floors outside were covered in filth. When the workman was challenged, he wasn't interested in the fact that we were trying to sleep. It was so loud it sounded like a drill right outside the bedroom window. Maids chatting early morning outside our room without any concern for people trying to sleep. Totally unacceptable.

    Location was good.

Initially- the noise from the surrounding apartments' plumbing (4a.m. baths, frequent loo flushing), and kitchen smells, which were a shock throughout the first night (it was Good Friday- not as solemn an occasion as observed in northern England; there was quite a party downstairs, we left it in full swing at midnight!) Subsequent nights of the Easter weekend were much calmer, and I realise our apartment ( A) was directly above the bar, and deep fat fryers. Ear plugs and scented candles were the answer. We would definitely stay here again, maybe on the top floor, in (F)

Charming staff, spacious apartments ( 2 bedrooms, full bathroom, basic kitchen- but who wants to eat at home in this fabulously foodie town?) washing machine, dining table, sofa , t.v.) in a lovely traditional 'Palacio' building, with a cool little library downstairs, WiFi, two flowery patios, a roof terrace for stork watching, and excellent tapas next door in " El Bocoy". Apartment A has a balcony onto the pedestrian street, with the best view of the stirring Good Friday processions.

Great location in old town in pedestrian area steps away from two grocery stores, market place, great bakery, churros and chocolate. This is a workable alternative for people who want to visit what i would call real Spain. It is 9 minutes by train from Jerez and the famed horse stables, and about 12 to 15 minute walk to the boat transfer across to Cadiz which takes about 20 to 30 minutes to get to the city harbor. I chose it for the ability to visit both neighbouring cities while coming home to the local community to R and R in the slower pace of the sherry city. I stayed at the hotel two years ago and made it a 6 day/ night stop on this return trip. Staff could not be more supportive or friendly. I hope to return again.

Apparently, there was a problem with the ventilation in our apartment. Every time the bar below was preparing food (which was from early morning until late at night) the smell in the bathroom and the whole apartment got extremely strong, I would even say unbearable. The staff knew about it but as there were no vacancies we could not change apartments. 120 Euros per night was far too much taking into account this inconvenience.

The building itself and the location were great. The rooms were ok. We were lucky the bedroom windows did not face the little street below as it gets very noise during the day.

Right in centre of town, very convenient and friendly staff, great value for money. Can be used as a base for Cadiz ( ferry 10 mins walk and 2.60 euros) but P de SM has also much to offer.

    No bad experiences.

Roomy apartment in an historic building close almost next door to the municipal market and Plaza de Espana. Within walking distance of the major attractions of El Puerto including Bodegas and nightlife centre. Convenient, inexpensive parking nearby. Couldn't be better as a base to explore this beautiful city.

WiFi seemed to have some problems when there were a lot of guests in the hotel.

Excellent place. The hotel is at the center of the old town, next to wonderful cafes, shops and market hall. The area was very lively during the daytime but very peaceful during the night. The hotel itself was extraordinary. When I entered the hotel, I thought that I had arrived to an extremely beautiful museum. The hotel has been renovated and modernized but many beautiful old features have been kept in the historical building. My apartment was spacious, peaceful and well equipped. There was also fabulous patio on the roof where you could lie or sit in the sun and admire the view over the old town. The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Very clean and well-kept place. I had wonderful time in this hotel.

A lot of noise from outside in the middle of the night due to the bins being emptied, street washed etc, and we are talking 2.30 am, with binmen shouting at each other ! The restaurant downstairs means there is plenty of noise through the day too, so don't expect a peaceful retreat!Kitchen basic and wifi temperamental .

Spacious apartment with balcony windows in a beautiful old building right in the centre of the old town. Roof terrace with drying area and close to all the shops. The furnishings were basic and although we stayed in winter , could imagine it being nice and cool in the summer heat. About 10 min walk to the river .

When we arrived, the reception was closed (despite we came during its declared opening hours). So, read carefully the direction to the hotel where they leave the keys. Also the kitchen had washing liquid, but nothing like salt or oil

Very nice historic venue, kitchen with whole facilities including washing machine, super-nice terrace with city view, two inner courty-yards with floweres, air-conditioning (which can also be used as heating), very nice city market is nearby and... there's a ferry to Cadiz, which takes 30mins and 2,65 euro!

It is hard to drive yr car to the site so ,like many, we parked in the E 3.95 car park 450 m away and walked with luggage to find the Apart. Booking confirmation had stated that reception on Wed. was open 1800 hrs to 2130 hrs. We adjusted our arrival to conform . However doors fully locked no reply to bell . Another guest in similar position . Note on door gave a tel No. but nothing else. Luckily staff from a cafe adjoining made call and established keys were at another hotel another 400 m away . Arrived to find envelopes with keys etc and returned , hauling luggage all the way to enter Apart. Unacceptable. . They could have called , emailed or SMS had they had difficulties but nothing. Why they don't use the cafe within the building , which is staffed 0800 to 2100 for out of hours contact is inexplicable. Once in to Apart. struck by dismal furniture but so what! Worse is dismal decoration . The aparts. all come off central courtyards running to 3 floors so there is little natural light as there are no external windows. Why therefore decorate rooms in ochre and dark brown with dark tiled floors and pathetic lighting? It creates a gloomy atmosphere where at times you were hard pushed to read material . We had no desire to stay, let alone cook and eat in such a depressing surrounding . Then add the noise from courtyard , other rooms, other bathrooms etc . Also note that had you shared the Apart. with others the bedroom door cannot close and the only bathroom comes of the bedroom. OK for best friends during the night but otherwise!! Tried to move rooms to front with natural light windows but equally dismal furniture made this unattractive. The whole point of an apart. is you can live in it as opposed to just sleeping as per an hotel . This place does not make it even at the £30 per night price - other are competitive at this time of year Great shame because with some prof. attention this place is potentially great.

The location , the exterior renovation. The staff at a personal level . Like almost all the Spaniards we meet they were polite, friendly and helpful. Library , Sun roof in summer ( we assume) , bathroom , size of apart. The unexpected maid service. BTW Puerto de S Maria is entertaining and interesting. Price but see what we did not like!.

Furniture is worn out, especially in the kitchen. Dust under beds.

Great location in the heart of El Puerto. 30 min by catamaran to Cadiz, 10 min by train to Jerez. Very helpful staff, we asked for a phone charger, they found it for us.
