Beautiful city but other better options are worth considering in terms of hotel choice

Bad smell in the room, maybe from the AC or plumbing. The Air conditioner was very weak. The sensation we had on the day of arrival was like the room has not be used for a long time: bad smell and hot. Definitely not something to be expected from a 4 star hotel. The wi-fi access in the room (6th floor) was painstakingly slow with lots of drops. Most of the time it simply didn't work at all. Poor breakfast with very little variety. Even considering the scarce variety, on our last day (Monday) some products like the croissants were not even replenished and we arrived about 9h30 (breakfast ends at 11h). After seeing how the breakfast was a let down I didn't even consider the hypothesis of dining at the hotel's restaurant. I'll rate this hotel more like a 3 stars overall.

Underground private parking. Relatively close to Avila's historic center to go by foot.

We had booked a disabled room and informed the hotel that my husband needed to use his mobility scooter to get around the hotel. The lift up to the room adapted for disabled was too small for his scooter. We had to change to another room with access via a larger lift. This room had no disabled facilities and my husband was unable to shower in the morning. One receptionist was very helpful and the other quite surly! This is not the first problem we have had with disabled facilities. Does anyone actually check them out?

Beds were comfy. Restaurant menu and food excellent.

parking garage lights were on a timing switch, not automatic,so you arrived in darkness and searched for the switch, which was illuminated. Disconcerting at first ,but ok once sorted.

Pleasant room and bathroom. Meal in the restaurant was good ,reasonably priced.

the hotel felt more like a convent when we checked-in, very quiet in a weird way. the lobby doesn't look like a hotel lobby. i don't like the sensor lights on the hallway - lights doesn't turn on in an instant so better have your phone with flash light ready.

Ok hotel for the price. Hotel is a bit dated and eerie but clean.

The staff are helpful, its a pleasant walk from the hotel to the centre of the walled city. Its location and secure underground parking is ideal for bikers and cars alike.A cafe/bar at the attached fuel station makes for a quick breakfast and an early start if thats helpful.of there is the full menu at the hotel.

Room was very cold when we checked in 8pm. Had to put heating unit on, took ages to warm up. Toilet had external window, clear glass so had to keep curtains closed! Also meant it was freezing in there!

Nice modern decor, good buffet breakfast. Nice view of city walls from rm 205. Very friendly helpful staff told us quick route to city.

Air conditioner made a noise but not effective in reducing the temperature of the room. Opening the window solved the problem and introduced road noise. Usual European problem.

Friendly check in, room with view of wall appreciated. Breakfast buffet good.

When checking in I asked if our room had breakfast included to which we was told yes only to find out after we'd checked out and got home (6 hours away) id been charged €7.95 per person per day for breakfast.. normally I wouldn't mind but the breakfast was crap.. cooked food consisted of bacon and scrambled egg! Not good enough for a 4 star hotel... especially as I had a double and triple room but only 2 people stayed in the triple but got charged for 3 people!

Hotel was in a fantastic location, staff were helpful, rooms were lovely clean, comfortable and modern. Bed was big and comfortable...Also had a stunning restaurant next door..

    Everthing was perfect.

I had reserved a basic room and a superior room as there were no more basic rooms available. When we arrived the receptionist imediately upgraded our son`s room to a superior one (at no extra cost) so he could be next to us. I thought that was a very kind gesture. Our room was brand new, had a state of the arts bathroom with a wonderful shower, but what we loved the most were the spectacular views of the old wall. We even had fantastic views of the old city from the loo !! It was so nice being able to park easily and free of charge as parking in the historic part of the city is a nightmare. There is a good restaurant right next door to the hotel and also a petrol station which was remarkably clean and quiet. The hotel in on the road to Madrid which made life very easy for us as we had to drive back early in the morning. Despite having the road in front of the hotel, we couldn`t hear a thing because the double glazing was excellent. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is located outside the city centre in a panoramic place with an amazing wiev on the Old Town. The hotel is suggested if you have a car because you can place it in the free parking and then you can reach the Old Town by foot (it takes not more than 20 minutes to reach the Cathedral but the road is uphill). Our room was spacious, clean and absolutely quiet.

5 coach loads of tourists using it as a base to visit region took over hotel with little regard for other guests. Breakfast was in corner of bleak large room which was being cleared or prepare for next mass visit. Parking in front of hotel filled people not using hotel and miserable staff in cafeteria more interested in dealing with local trade than hotel guests - not really a 4 * experience!

Modern well appointed room. Friendly reception who made us welcome and dealt with problems (Shower tray blocked). Great views of City walls and short 15 min walk into town on newly constructed path. Good food for breakfast but eat out rest of time in Avila.
