Sorry, but the bed was a disaster. It was rock hard and we both struggled to sleep in it for our two night stay. Every time one of us moved it creaked so much that it woke the other one up. The most important thing for a hotel is to provide a good nights sleep. For all its excellent facilities and its good looks it failed to provide a decent bed. Maybe it was just our room Also, WIFI was not good.

It is a very good looking hotel, the room was excellent, even had a little fountain in the courtyard outside the room. Pool small but was good to cool off. Good bar and food very nice. Staff very helpful and friendly. Easy to park if you have a car.

Do not book a Superior room as they appear to be dark and have no outlook except a wall! The standard rooms are smaller but face into the open enclosed courtyard so there is an outlook. As previously mentioned by others the breakfast was quite basic. Also the garage is very tight, we have a SUV and was not easy and I normally find parking relatively easy! Hence why we parked outside in the area that has security cameras.

The staff were very friendly. In particular the re eptionist was extremely helpful and spoke good English. There is parking opposite the entrance under the castle wall and she gave us help to negotiate the charging. Convent stop off for the motorway going south.

At first we were allocated a "Rustic Superior Room". It smelled badly of damp and it was at the bottom of a grotty light shaft. We were therefore transferred to a "Modern Superior Room". It had a small double bed. We didn't rate the room any better than a UK budget hotel. There was no wifi for the first day. We have had better value elsewhere in Zafra for half the price previously. We will not be returning here.

Difficult to find the entrance - we didn't realise you had to drive through the arch attached to the Parador to get to the hotel reception. A nice big clear sign would be nice.

High standard rooms in a beautiful old building. Spacious and everything you could want. The bathroom was bigger than some hotel rooms we've stayed in. Right in the centre. Parking available but you must pre book. The parking garage is cosy!

Although in a modernised room, this was probably done a few years ago and some tiredness apparent, minimal irritations such as shower tray shallow so water overflowed onto bathroom floor, while decor needed a little attention.

This is a hotel full of character, dating from the 15th century, and elegance. The staff were friendly and there is a cafeteria where you take breakfast. Zafra is a charming small town and very relaxing. The hotel has areas in which to sit and enjoy the ambience and an inner courtyard. Our room window was a full on view of the palace next door (which is the parador).

The only downside during our stay was breakfast. The hotel was quite busy and when we arrived for breakfast at 10am most of the other clients must have already eaten as the breakfast room was chaotic - no clean tables were set, most of the food and juices were finished, used tables were not cleared and clean glasses, plates and cutlery were hard to find. The sole waitress was a bit overwhelmed.

The hotel's location was excellent, very central with good views. The atmospheric older style property was in keeping with the central area of the ancient town of Zafra. The room was very well appointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable. There was a small charge of 6 euros to use the secure car park.

The double bed was extremely creaky to the point of ridiculousness I was told all their double beds are like this! We changed to a twin room with excellent beds but this had poor air conditioning and lighting that was so hot the room never really cooled down. Then there was referred base driven music from their function in the basement until 3.30a.m, noise from the street as guests left or continued partying outside and then bottle recycling - so in short little sleep. As I had paid for a superior room and requested quiet this wasn't a great experience. Wifi in the hotel was extremely slow in all the areas we tried so as to be unusable.

This hotel is situated next to the parador and the historic centre and has a very secure and convenient garage. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The courtyard was lovely and our drinks, food and garage costs reasonably priced.
