Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The proximity to the elevated highway and walking underneath was a little unnerving late at night, and felt more sketchy than it actually was.
The room was surprisingly quiet despite the Pension's location very close to a main highway overpass. Although the weather was unseasonably hot - scorching, in fact - we kept the room cool by closing the shutters during the day, and opening the windows wide after dark. The young woman who is the front desk manager could not have been nicer, and very competent. We were only a ten-minute walk from the Metro. A short downhill stroll to the river, and we stumbled on the excellent tavern Haven, with good food and local Basque wines, tables on the terrace overlooking the river and the Guggenheim - great and inexpensive meals.

Room smelled very strongly of cleaning detergent. If you want hot water for a cup of tea you need to get it from vending machine for 1 euro for a small cup.
Everything is in walking distance. Guggenheim Museum nearby, bus to the airport only 15 minute walk, Old Town 15 minute walk... Vending machine and microwave in accommodation if you're desperate for food!

There was nothing we didn't like.
Staff were very friendly, offering suggestions of where to eat and a complimentary map of the city. The hotel was also only a few minutes walk from a metro station.

Coffee machine was broken.
For those visiting the Guggenheim Museum and arriving with a car, this lodging can't be beat. Parking for 10 Euros in the hotel garage with a 15 minute walk to the museum is terrific. Everything else was more than good.

Nothing. It was super. If there had been a loud group or neighbouring room then the rooms would have been loud.
Everything as expected or better than the photos! Very clean. Nice gentleman at the reception. Admittedly it helped we could say a few Spanish words, he was great showing me the map. It was super close to the city. Great stay. The jug/kettle was appreciated.

Our train arrived in Bilbao 10.30pm. Outside most check in times. Carlos responded quickly to our request for late check in and sent information for self entry on whatsapp. The room was clean, with comfortable beds. Carlos let us leave our luggage at Pension until we were ready to leave town. Easy walk to Guggenheim and other attractions.

An old but clean hotel. Very friendly staff! Good parking space! 5 star location with 15 minutes walk to Guggenheim and 15 minutes to the old city! Excellent stay in all!

The bathroom had no window or extractor fan, which meant that the humidity after a shower had no way of escaping. Having to walk up the rather steep uphill road to access the place.
Quiet, clean, very helpful staff. Conveniently located, very near the Guggenheim museum.
