    The location along a busy street and the restaurant and bar above the rooms made for noise until late night.

    This old building has been remodeled with tasteful decor and furnishings that bring out the simple beauty of the historic structure in modern comfort.

    The location is very close to the wall, but it’s about 20minutes waking from the train station. I would recommend people who come by train to take bus (line 1) to come here.

    The room is very clean and comfortable.

    After looking for a hotel inside the walls we chose this one. When we arrived we were so pleased we did. Outside the walls with just a wide pedestrian path to interrupt your view from the bar. Fantastic and even better at night when they illuminate the walls. The hotel is set in a restored old building. Lovely features and everything about it is quality. Rooms are simply furnished, but are comfortable and very clean. Pity they didn't have a fridge. The continental breakfast is good. There is also a small courtyard garden. Staff looked after us very well. No parking, unfortunately, but it wasn't an issue. We parked safely for free in a small square nearby. Also, there are two paying car parks very near. Best to go straight to reception and they will advise you what to do. Overall, very happy with what we got for our money.

    Parking was close by, but pricey and uphill, kind of strenuous if you are toting more than a back pack, but to be fair, I'm not that fit. I can't think of a single other 'negative'

    The facility is a 16th century building, wonderfully restored and updated without detracting from the historic charm and coziness. Staff was very gracious and helpful, restaurant's terrace is a mere 10 meters from the incredible city walls and close to charming park with a killer view. Exploring the old town is intriguing from the astounding architecture to the churches, shops and little museums. Townspeople are genial...I got myself lost a few times and easily found help with directions.

    Las Leyendas is ideally located right next to the old walled city of Avila. It has an abundance of charm and ambience and is very clean. The staff is so friendly and helpful.     The 4th city on my list is Avila;
    • Leisure trip
    • Solo traveller

    INTRO: My trip to Spain, early Jan 2016, consisted of 11 overnights and 5 cities: Madrid, Toeldo, Cuenca, Avilla and Segovia, all within 35 minutes to 2 hours radius of Madrid and all via either bus and/or train. All hostals/hotels were for a single room request ranging from the least amount of time, 1 day, in Cuenca, to the most, 4 days, in Madrid. All properties were in the 2 star range and had a minimum of booking.com rating of 8.0.

    The 4th city on my list is Avila; a different sort of environment with an interesting history. Hotel Las Leyendas, out of the 4 hotels so far, is the most expensive at 40€ per night for a single room. None of these rates will break the bank of course but it helps to know if the price is worth it and this hotel is worth it as it is a 3 star hotel with an elevator, phone, tv, restaurant serving buffet breakfast and other meals as well as a full bar serving till 11pm. It offers some wellness , is a well designed hotel interior with reception that speaks English and as with all properties, en suite bathroom, keys for coming in after reception hours but English is a hit and miss with other than reception personnel. What is surprising is how many sites there are to take in; over 60 in this small town with valleys and mountains in the distance and depending on the time you are there, snow can be seen on mountains in the distance. It is a bit colder here but there are tons of photo opportunities especially a 2.5km wall surrounding the old city which dates back to the 5th century BC and it looks more like Disneyland than Disneyland; really unique and beautiful and well kept. The town walls are stunning and this hotel is located in the Rastro area right next to a part of the wall and overlooking the valley floor below. Hard to find but worth it. The hotel is well kept although hard to tell from the outside. The city is a 2 day visit for sure as there are so many churches and pics to take of the city by day and by night. Toledo is also a day and night city pic opportunity. The walls go back 1,000 years. Ask about the Tuk Tuk tourist tour that costs 5€ and takes you around some of the sites especially to a location to take great shots of the walls. The 35 minute tour stops at some highlights and there is historical narration in a few languages as well. As usual, plenty of bars and restaurants to satisfy but also, prices in Spain are more than expected.
