How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

At check-in, a deposit of 50 EUR was required at the accommodation, which was not stated anywhere in advance and is quite humiliating for a four-star hotel. In the pictures of the room, toiletries are visible in the bathroom, but in reality, there were no toiletries at all. At breakfast, we had to wait 10-15 minutes three times for a free table. Apart from these issues, everything else was fine.

Had to ask for a kettle for making tea in our room, but promptly provided. Not a lot of choice in pillow types, all a bit soft
located in the area of Barcelona where there are less tourists and wider, tree lined streets, yet still easy to access areas of interest via metro, a few minutes walk away. Very good value for room size , breakfast and closer to main train station and airport than hotels further in. if you take the AirPort Express bus, get out at Placa Espana, the first stop, and it's only 10 minutes walk to the hotel. very helpful and friendly staff

City tax is to be paid on arrival, though, booking.com states all taxes are paid. Not a dislike just a FYI for fellow travellers. I guess it's more a booking.com issue than a hotel issue as this has already happened in many other places before.
Very central location, close to airport expressbus and public transport. We had a quiet room to the back. Breakfast was good, everyday a bottle of water in the room. Big and comfy beds. Also good outside brunch options nearby.

Our room was not serviced on one of the days, and we had to keep asking for bottled water, so was made to feel a bit of a nuisance by reception staff, hopefully just a misunderstanding.
Breakfast was great, especially the very cheerful waiter, Borjo! Location was excellent and felt very safe. Room very good, bathroom, bed and coffee machine all good. Our room overlooked the square at front of hotel, all lovely.

Nothing I can think of.
The staff was very friendly. The room was very clean. It is very close to a metro station, you can get anywhere basically. Also, it is like 30min walking distance to La Rambla. The area is also nice, we were 2 women and we did not hesitate or feel uncomfortable walking back to the hotel in night.(21:00/22:00)

Silly, but sink plug did not hold water properly so nuisance for wet shaving. Nothing the hotel can do about it, but daily street bin clearance anytime between 3.30 and 5.00 was irritating for a light sleeper. Same all over Barcelona though and I can see it's a necessary evil. Given the dire water shortage in Barcelona, I was surprised that the hotel did not request careful use by guests. Many visitors would not appreciate the issue and would indulge in high usage without a second thought.
Good location for us. Decent sized rooms. Clean. Very nice staff. Decent breakfast.

The pillows were smelly, the sheets were clean and pristine, but pillows inside were smelly, in my opinion they should be changed more often.

Bathroom was small and no bidet. Would have preferred a shower without climbing into a bath. No kettle in the room to be able to make tea and no tea bags. Coffee machine great but I don't like coffee.
Location. Friendly and helpful staff and the welcome bottle of wine and water was much appreciated after a long journey.
