Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing to not like, except for maybe an extra light in the bathroom?
I love the location, very friendly hosts who work very hard keeping it fresh, clean and beautiful. The hostal looks tiny from the entrance but you soon realise it opens out like a "Dr Who" TARDIS onto a beautiful patio breakfast garden with a well maintained and tempting pool. I've stayed quite a few times over the years and I intend to stay many times more. The new owners truly put their hearts into this delightful wee piece of paradise. 🥰 Oh yes I forgot to mention, the pillows in this hostel are, fabulous. 😄

United KingdomThis hostal is very well situated in a quiet street, very close to bakeries, supermarket and cafés/restaurants. It's also within walking distance to the Balcon de Europa, and the parking lot (about 8-10 mins walk). The room overlooking the back garden and the pool is nice, pretty standard, light and sunny most of the day. Julien & Amber were very welcoming and all their recommendations for food or nearby places to visit were spot on.

IrelandNada. All was perfect.
Exceptional small guesthouse style accommodation run by a husband& wife team with many years of experience in the international hotel business. Homely, comfortable, simple but exceptionally stylish & well decorated. Guests have use of a small shared kitchen with a cooker, utensils & fridge. A beautiful lush oasis of a private courtyard & pool for guests to use. Photo attached . Very private and discreet accommodation but Julian & Amber are so very helpful with local info regarding parking, restaurants, places of interest etc. Close to beach, main eating areas and in the old town. Rooms clean, tidy, well -appointed, each with ensuites. Simple but stylish.

IrelandHard to think of anything - I was a little cold first thing in the morning as it was January but Amber immediately provided me with a heater so that was sorted.
We really loved Boutique Hostal Lorca - what a charming property, rustic and tasteful decoration with an amazing garden and small swimming pool. The location was good, 10 mins walk from the beach and centre and just 3 minutes walk from the bus station. There was a lovely kitchen to prepare your meals, if desired, and we enjoyed breakfast in the garden. Amber and Julien's hospitality made us feel right at home and nothing was any trouble to them. My husband had an ankle problem and Julien kindly loaned us crutches for a couple of days, we greatly appreciated their kindness and hospitality. I have been recommending this hotel to all my friends. Would love to return in the future.

SloveniaHighly reccomend, we loved it! Amber is such a wonderful host, she gave us all the directions, suggestions where to go and what to see in the area, she speaks English perfectly and she is very kind, caring, an amazing host! I loved the outside sitting area by the pool and the kitchen, where you can prepare your own breakfast. Free parking is very close to the appartment, the grocery store as well. Nerha is very lovely small town, worth visiting.

SpainThe room was comfortable but just the addition of a chest of drawers to put clothes instead of having to leave shirts, shorts, socks etc in the suitcase would have been nice.Another shelf in the bathroom would have been great to put toiletries, as there was only one small one. A full length mirror in the room would have been nice ,as there was only a small mirror in the bathroom. It didn't detract from a nice stay, but would have been a finishing touch.
Great value for money. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were very clean. The location of the hostal was excellent for walking around Nerja and very near the Balcon de Europa. Bars and restaurants were very near ,along with other facilities. Julian the owner told us about free parking, 5 minutes away, which was very helpful,as the underground parking in the main plaza is really expensive. The hostel benefits from a lovely swimming pool and patio area, which was a pleasant place to relax. A small kitchen is available for people who want to prepare a drink or light breakfast during the day.

The hostal was perfect for our 2 night stay in a great location. The room was very comfortable with a lovely view of the pretty terrace and pool area. A bonus was the communal kitchen area where we were able to make a coffee and prepare a snack. Amber and Julien are lovely hosts and made us very welcome.. Would definitely recommend hostal Lorca and stay again.

United KingdomThe shower strength and water temperature could be a little stronger and warmer! But that's all!
Amber and Julian were so friendly and accommodating. When they weren't in the hostel making good conversation they were very accessible via their WhatsApp, responding to any queries we had. The location was also incredible. Atmosphere was super cozy with Christmas decorations and games to play. Kitchen was full of appliances and the garden area was relaxing and comfortable.

United KingdomThere is very little to criticise, except perhaps that there was no seating available on the balcony, though I believe this is on the list of the ongoing enhancements being made.
We loved our cosy, en-suite room with a small balcony overlooking the flower-filled garden and little pool. The welcome from the hosts Julien and Amber also made a real difference, making the Hostal Lorca a 'home from home', as the expression goes. The location was also perfect, just two minutes' walk from the bus station and only 7 to 10 minutes' walk to the Balcon de Europa and ocean. This made for an easy journey by bus from Malaga airport and enabled us to do low-cost excursions by bus to Malaga city and to other resorts further east. Another plus point is that guests can store food in the shared kitchen and prepare or warm up basic meals there. This is very helpful at breakfast time and if you don't feel like eating out after a full day's excursion.

The hospitality level and personal approach is beyond "excellent". The couple who owns and runs the place are increadibly sweet and kind people. They've recommended us all the best places in Nerja and Fregilliana and allowed us late checkout since there were few guests in low season. It was nice to have home made breakfast (you can use kitchen facilities) in a lovely garden.
