Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandTiny lift. But at least there was one. Smalll room but the view of the lively square made it seem bigger. Walls rather thin or maybe neighbours were noisy.
Location. Fantastically pleasant and helpful staff. Loved bright breakfast room. Well worth walking a few steps outside. Clean and bright.

United StatesNothing - it was a wonderful stay.
The location of the hotel can’t be beat. I stayed there several years ago and the hotel has don’t a major renovation. My room was wonderful with views of the square. However there was hardly any noise and the curtains kept out light. The staff was very helpful. I didn’t get to have the breakfast as my flight left early the next morning. I’d definitely stay here again. If you’re looking for a clean, well located moderately priced hotel this is the place for you in Madrid.

BelgiumEverything was perfect.
A very nice, beautiful and clean small hotel in the heart of Madrid. The square in front is one of the most most vibrant areas of the city. Spacious room, well decorated. A bottle of water was also offered in the room free of charge. The breakfast starts at 8:00. However, they prepared a nice take away package because I had to check out earlier. Much appreciated!

ItalyThe not so good. Just a preference but I had asked for a quite room and was given one on check in but these are internal rooms (larger than the rest) that face into a dark and unattractive inner courtyard. Fine if you are there overnight but I was staying a week so had them move me to one that was smaller but had a view and light, that just meant a wait until the room was ready, nothing life threatening. The biggest problem is sound insulation between the rooms, and not sure if it is a common problem across all outside rooms, I could hear the people in the next room speaking. There is also a wall mounted bar refrigerator next to the bed, it is noisy so if you are a light sleeper you need to have the staff turn it off, it's so small that it's impractical anyway other than to keep a couple of small bottles in. There is also a large gap under the entry door so there is a lot of light spill from a highly illuminated passageway which again isn't conducive to a good night sleep.
The Good. If you are in Madrid for the major museums this is a great location as they are all within a 10 to 15 minute walk. The Staff were wonderful and that in itself makes for a good hotel and stay. It's a corner location overlooking a large Plaza so feels open and light. The room though compact had a good layout, storage and bathroom. I had a room on the first floor overlooking Plaza de Santa Anna, I would suggest a room on level 2 (you will be more removed from the Plaza with more privacy) so it was a very open view with lots of light, the double glazing meant there was no real issue with the noise from the busy Plaza but it meant keeping the doors closed. The breakfast room is a lovely space to start the day in and the breakfast offering the best I've had in a 3 and 4 star hotel in a long time, the person looking after guests couldn't be more helpful or accommodating.

United KingdomOur room overlooked the street and we found it was noisy at night. We chose this hotel because it advertised soundproofed rooms but in reality this was only the installation of single glazing to the balcony and it didn't do much to shut out the noise. However, when we mentioned this to the receptionist she straight away organised for us to change rooms to a quieter, inner room. Also, in fairness to the hotel there were some repairs going on in the surrounding streets and a lot of the noise was from cars running over temporary metal ramps.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and I noticed that when rooms were being cleaned between guests, they pulled the beds away from the wall. Not everywhere does that. The hotel is in a fantastic location - lots of bars, restaurants and tapas on the doorstep and good shops too. A 10 minute walk will take you into the heart of the city and there are 2 metro stations just a stones throw away too.

United KingdomThe rooms have thin walls and you can hear everything your neighbours are saying. There is a noise from the outside bars but this wasn't a major problem for us in February. I was very surprised to find ourselves locked in the Hotel on two occasions when nobody was on reception. We had to wait for the receptionist to come back to unlock the doors to let us out. There needs to be an access button or card reader for guests and I am sure this must break fire regulations.
Excellent location next to the Plaza Santa Ana with lots of restaurants and bars next to the hotel. Only a 15 minute walk West to the Cathedral and Royal Palace and 15min East to the Museo del Prado. Room modern and clean with comfortable beds. Breakfast is 2 doors down from the Hotel entrance so it meant going outside but the continental breakfast selection was good with quality coffee and orange juice.
