The hotel and grounds need a good clean and smartening up. We thought the place had closed down when we arrived. Lighting in our room was poor and there were many cobwebs. The pool was empty and dirty and the seating not ready to use. The close proximity to the train line means the noise can be disruptive.

Friendly hosts who are knowledgeable about walks in the area. The food was very good. Our (superior) room was large and we had our own terrace with a lovely view. The shower was always hot. The bed was large and comfortable. It is a pleasant walk to the station and village. We had an enjoyable week and would recommend the hotel to walkers.

I really enjoyed my stay in this area and this place complimented the time here.

The country side that it was in was beautiful with the mountains in the background. I stayed here because it was close to Ronda and if your into hiking, there are lots of trails in this area and the host knows which ones will suit you. It's very peaceful and quiet in the area. There is also a swimming pool which is a bonus.

On town outskirts but close to Cueva Del Gato and trail head to ronda

This was an unexpected luxury for a weary hiker. After my first hotel option fell through I was lucky to find this one open in te off season. A hot bath, feather pillows, white sheets and a cup of tea in bed.... nothing better!

The driveway down from the road was a bit rough (100 yards) but that's a trivial issue.

Nice clean, comfortable place run by English couple - great service and since it was a little bit out in the country there was no issue with parking. Had a delightful couple of meals in the evening on the terrace by the side of a small stream with good choice and service. Pool was first class - a bit chilly in early October but that is to be expected. Breakfast was great.

Only (very small) criticism: The pool area is not very well maintained (broken fridge lying in the grass next to pool etc) and the wifi was not very good in our room (room 2). But apart from that everything was PERFECT!

Great hotel, with a very friendly staff! Especially the surrounding of the hotel is absolutely amazing, perfect to rest and to do hiking trips....! I can only recommend staying at the hotel. Dinner was absolutely amazing (one of the best food we had during the trip) and the breakfast was good as well.

The road leading to the carpark should be repaired.

Great with a fig tree in the courtyard where you could help yourself out with as many figs as you could stand. Lovely shared balcony overlooking the river. Cosy room (no 7).

Stunning rural location. Ideal for walkers, cyclists & like us, motorcyclist. Great roads everywhere. Lovely pool. Riverside patio area. Amazing cliffs right there. Ten minutes from Ronda town Also, right next to a beautiful walking route. Or mountain bike.

The dinner menu was a little expensive (but not exorbitant) compared to other offerings nearby but the food provided was good, well presented, and enjoyable. So we ate there anyway two nights out of three.

Very friendly owner, who was also helpful and accommodating. Lovely surroundings, well-kept property, and pleasant room. Wonderful location - close to Ronda (a 5-10 min drive) - but out in the country with lots of chances to get out and walk and relax, and comprehensive amenities on the property - swimming pool, outdoor seating, terrace, sun-loungers, shaded seating, table tennis and a pool table. All in all, and enjoyable, relaxing stay. Breakfast was a continental-style buffet, in a good quantity. All the food served at breakfast and dinner was very good and enjoyable.

Room no.7! Large room with lovely private outside area. comfy bed, duvet and pillows. Lovely breakfast with good choice of cold meats, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, fresh orange juice. Pool area is lovely and secluded. Evening meals are available and there is also a friendly, inexpensive restaurant across the road. There are walks into the village, the cave and other villages, a train link to Ronda. It's a really lovely location and only 10 minutes drive to Ronda but with the added attraction of a beautiful rural stay at a reasonable price. Completely recommended.

Little choice for breakfast and if you were a little late you had to ask for food to be put out. Very continental. An evening meal was available but menu was the same each evening we checked. Our room proved difficult high step down to bathroom and staircase to all rooms should warn guests with bad knees and hips.

The owners were really friendly and helpful. The old flour mill was a really interesting building good walks village not too far typical Spainish bar good value train direct to Ronda just not very frequent but great value again. Overall good value.

We had some difficulty in finding it, because there is not a clear marking .

It is situated in a very quiet area, near the road to Ronda. It has a swimming pool. It is an old builing, with thick walls, so the rooms are cool. The management is British. It is very well situated for a trip to Ronda, or one of the other White Villages of the Sierra Nievas.

Seemed as though it was just opened up from winter. Dirty, uncared for. No information about services, times for meals, facilities... Drive way down to hotel was unpassible unless in a 4x4. Hotel sign behind tree. Rusty gates hanging off post.

location was great & for walking the dogs. Could be a lovely place if cared for.

Even though I knew from other reviews that establishment was too "rustic" for some folks, and even though I am not into "fancy" places, I was surprised by the lack of maintenance....Things seem to be slipping: the access driveway in is a mess (but thankfully not too long to do much damage), weeds abound, outdoor furniture all mismatched and starting to show wear, pool cover in tatters, large cardboard boxes for poolside awnings left on pool deck instead of being stored away, etc. I like wild looking gardens, but the gardens at this hotel were either nonexistent or completely ignored. None of this would matter if one were not expending $99E per night...rustic is fine....but neglected is not. My biggest complaint was the lack of WiFi in the room and the owners explanation that it was fixed and should be working....same story to every new guest (which I heard because I had to sit in the dimly lit small reception area to connect to the hotel reception WiFi.) The dim lighting another story about electricians doing work and blowing out all the lightbulbs). I loved this place ...but if they are going to remain competitive they have to bump it up a notch because all these little things add up to them slowly being unable to compete with other lovely lodging options in the area.

Loved the location! Owner / chef Philip was very nice and helpful suggesting great hiking and car touring routes! Our upgraded terrace room right on river was wonderful. Cannot beat access to hiking trails: la pileta cave was amazing.
