In the rainy days the breakfastroom was cold and a little dark. Also the room was a little cold.

The house was a real palace, the patio, the garden, many sittingrooms, all beautiful and elegant. Our room was great, a lot of space, beautiful furniture and acces to the garden. The staff was kind and helpfull, the breakfast very good.

Bathroom facilities; lack of proper wardrobe space; and the annoying flying bugs/bluebottles thatgreeted us on arrival through the main portal.

Rosa was a delight and had it not been for her warm welcome and her and her helper Toni’s desire to ensure our comfort, this hotel’s dire need of updating and modernization would not appeal to today’s more demanding traveller. Although the building’s past glory is still somewhat in evidence (fine antique furnishings, a small private chapel and a leafy courtyard), its worn look detracts from today’s comfort and an interesting past. The flies/mosquitoes buzzing around the main entrance were an unwelcome annoyance. There is a faded charm here that needs attention. Rosa and Toni however deserve high marks for their care and attention.

The staff obviously show pride in their work and the history of the building they work in. When we travel we love to find places to stay with history........this hotel as it in abundance. If you want to complain about dodgy WiFi, fine, but you’ll miss out on a historical gem. Secure parking for our motorcycles (even with the cobblestone floor!), breakfast and once again helpful staff.

Wifi is HORRIBLE ! Wifi, when you are lucky to grab a signal, is as slow as dial-up. Seriously, this would be a top rated hotel if it was not for the HORRIBLE wifi !! Ten meters away from the router and I could only get the weakest signal. Other guests commented to me about how terrible the wifi service was.

Staff and breakfast, included in price, were excellent. Rooms are in the former home of Spanish Royalty and are furnished with antiques. The place is like a museum and is worth a stay on that account.

nothing ... just don't change it!

This hotel was totally unique, in that it really is much more like staying as a guest in an old aristocratic home than a hotel. from the very first moments when we were guided into the hotel garage by the wonderful manageress, Rosa, we felt looked after as friends and welcome guests. Rosa showed us to the coolest room of the 8 (on ground floor adjacent to the back garden space) which remained perfectly refreshing despite the whole of Spain being in a heat wave during our stay. The rooms (& indeed whole 'hotel') are not 'tweed-up' in any way, but remain in the sort of 'shabby chic' style that radiates the beauty of the whole town and it's overall style. The rooms are spacious, scrupulously clean, and ideal for a 'slow-paced' sort of stay in Ubeda. Rosa welcomed us with delicious iced tea prepared in a way we have never had before but was fabulous! Her breakfasts were also superb - more than we could want to eat in a traditionally Andalucian style - and they are not to be missed! The hotel itself is within the town centre, but in a quiet place away from any noise, and perfect for an easy stroll 5-10 minutes away from some excellent restaurants. I cannot praise this place enough, and am so grateful that such noble places still exist within the globally homogenised tourist world that has become frankly so boring.

Wanted to stay in the old section of Ubeda at an old Palacio....this hotel was just the place for us, small, charming with fantastic staff. Our room had a sitting room (about 18 X 18) that we shared with another room so we had an area to relax in that wasn't the bedroom. We never saw the other guest(s) that we shared the room with. Also, there was ah huge room on the ground floor that was the size of a ball room for relaxing in. Wonderful breakfasts too. If you want fancy and new this is not the place for you but if you want an old world experience, choose this place.

The Palacio is a beautiful sixteenth century building with a cool inner courtyard and a garden. Our room, one of only eight, was spacious with a high ceiling and period furniture. It was triple-glazed against the heat by double doors and shutters into the garden. The bathroom was also large - and included a screen for the toilet! The elegant shared lounge stretches along one side of the building, and is supplied with arts magazines, traditional board games, and family photographs. The management is discreet, friendly and very helpful. It feels like being a guest of the family - in a National Trust property. You can watch a video of the building and its history on YouTube.
