Sadly it oozes amateurism and lack of enthusiasm on the part of management. Our room (a suite) was fine although would have been better if all the bouquets of plastic flowers and unnecessary extra furniture had been removed. The bathroom deco looked like a pier import display at its worst and it was hard to negotiate a path between the various bits and pieces. Although our bed was always made up each day there were oddities which suggested poor management or poor staff training. Our wet towels were left dangling where we had put them (fine but it seems odd in a hotel which claims to be of a superior nature) and a used plastic glass with lipstick on it stood between the two sinks. Ugh ! The safe in wardrobe had been stood on end so it would fit inside. There was an adjoining door which let through ALL the noise from neighbours. A trumpeter in the building next door would start up scales at about 10.00 pm. The place badly needs (new) sound proofing The female reception staff seemed professional and efficient but I have to say that the several men we chanced upon simply didn’t cut it. They dressed in very casual clothes or looked like they’d just come out of their kitchen wearing tracksuit bottoms. It lent the place an air of unpleasantness. The general decor was atrocious but clearly the idea had been to produce something quirky or kitch. It doesn’t work. This place could be superb but needs a lot of work on it and some devoted staff! It has a good location and the building looks wonderful from outside but you have been warned - oh and judging from the floor plan, several rooms do not have windows onto the outside.

The hotel is located in a fine renaissance building in a pedestrian street near the main square. In other words it has everything going for it.

We had an adjoining door to the next room. Our Spanish neighbours checked in drunk at 3.30am and proceeded to have a party in the room for another hour, before going out to a club at 4.30

Getting up at 7.30 and turning the TV on full blast to show our neighbours that there is a life in daylight hour as well. I'm sure that they appreciated the lesson. The hotel is brilliantly situated to explore the beautiful town of Baeza and was a very reasonable price.

Coffee is terrible, in case you like coffee, otherwise it's just like in most hotels in Spain. The breakfast could have included eggs but the orange juice freshly squeezed and croissant was buttery and fresh.

Everything really. Outstanding value for money. The place looks and feels like as seen on the photos.

Although initially the young man on the front desk was extremely helpful we never saw him again during our two day stay. In fact many times there was nobody on the front desk and our complaint that our aircon was not working in our room fell on deaf ears

As mentioned by many a truly beautiful building retaining its period features. The most convenient situation for walking round the town and discovering the many historic buildings and atmosphere of Baeza. So close to the Nueva Casino for a memorable evening of song!

Nothing other than the beds may have been a little soft for some folks.

A great experience to stay in this splendid historic centrally located hotel with its beautiful antique furnishings and spectacular inner courtyard. A truly splendid step back in time. The helpful receptionist made check in easy notwithstanding that we could not speak each other’s language. Off site parking was available at nominal cost in the town square a short distance away. Internet worked well. Breakfast in the breathtaking courtyard had a good selection of things well presented. Several good restaurants near by. Baeza is fabulous history standing still.

central heating had to be switched off as otherwise too hot.

Great location and with very helpful staff. We stayed at the Parador de Ubeda the night before but all preferred this hotel in Baeza at one third of the cost. The setting is a beautiful old building around a central patio. Arrival was without a hitch and arrived at the front entrance of the hotel where we could leave the car while doing the check in, after this we had to move the car to an underground public car park at 5 minutes walk. The rooms are large and with good twin beds. No outside windows in our room but windows to the central patio.

There is no on site parking being in the middle of the city but nearby public underground parking is available. Otherwise no obvious dislikes.

18th century Spanish palace...we felt part of history. Baeza is a small but beautiful city with interesting buildings. There is no restaurant in the hotel but next door is a social club which has a nice courtyard, bar and decent food and is open to the public.

The location in the centre of Baeza is a real plus: most bars and restaurant ( Knovas and Pajaro are our favourites!) are no more than a 5 minute walk. A cheap deal withg a parking garage close by is a good option if you travel by car. Baeza is an interesting town as is Ubeda, only 10km away . We have enjoyed visiting both these cities and admire their Renaissance beauty gleaming in the Andalucian winter light.Wonderful to sleep in a palacio with a lovely glass covered courtyard where a fountain clatters softly during the daytime. The staff are truly friendly and very helpful. As we were there early january we especially appreciated the open fire on the groundfloor where we could sit in the evening with a good glass of wine. The rooms are spacious with nice bathrooms and well heated in winter. The breakfast is ... superb : selections of bread and viennoiseries , local olive oil, different hams, cheeeses, tortilla, jams, cakes, honey, fruit ... a good toaster and fresh tomatoe pulp and orange juice... real spanish coffee ... taking breakfast at the Salcedo is a must !!!
