This was our first night in Spain before heading to La Rioja region and it provided a welcome and luxurious start to our two weeks in northern Spain and southern France. The accommodations were comfortable, very attractive, and spacious. The dinner was very good. It was the nicest place we stayed on our trip. We are very glad we chose this parador and wish time had permitted a longer stay.

The food. After experiencing the previous Parador in Segovia our expectations were high. Breakfast was fine but the sandwiches were expensive and quite frankly awful. 2 pieces of ' wonder' bread and a piece of cheese and hugely expensive. The dinner was also average and lacking flavour, eg. soup was gespachio which just tasted like puréed tomatoes. Sadly disappointing!

A remote facility in a very quiet village with no bars and restaurants, but that is what a Parador is. You had to drive anywhere or eat on the premises. We did day trips so that wasn't an issue as we ate amazing food in the cities and towns we visited and then bought bread, cheese and wine to have back at the hotel. We did visit a pub in a nearby village a 5 minute drive away. Our expectations of the food were high but the experience disappointing. Staff very helpful, very clean and comfortable and a beautiful remote location.

The hotel is a bit remote and a car is deifntitely needed. Whilst Vitoria is accessible; it is not the most attrative Spanish city. The bar area is a little unimaginative but it has a great terrace to enjoy the sunshine.

This hotel lives up to the high standard of Paradores Espana. The hotel is very well appointed and spacious rooms are bright and modern. The restaurant - in the original, historic part of the building - has a good atmosphere and the food was excellent and very good value. The hotel is within reasonavble driving distance of La Rioja region. Nearby is a great country park include the large reservoiur/lake, Lake Ganboa: well worth a visit. Staff are very firendly, helpful and well trained; maintaingin the standards expected of a Parador.

The restaurant service seemed somewhat stressed for such an upmarket hotel and restaurant: personnel professional but a bit impersonal: while a large % of the tables still with guests, the next morning breakfast preparations on a central table were being made, our bill was put on our table without asking for it.

Excellent dishes were served in the restaurant. The decor was very attractive, as it was located in the old part of the building (the rooms are in the newly built wings). Good space between tables for privacy. Very pleasant terrace and garden with great views.

There was a strong odour in our bathroom of which the staff were informed. We felt the restaurant was expensive but the bar meals better value. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

The hotel itself is set within a beautiful setting. Our room was clean with two very comfortable large single beds placed together and had pleasant views across the plain. Reception, restaurant and bar staff very attentive. A car is essential. We'd like to try another of the hotels in this group.

Although the food was good (and they will find something for vegetarians), restaurant prices were high - 31 euros for dinner and a ridiculous 16 euros for breakfast. But with no nearby alternatives you are a captive market. Restaurant service was both slow and, when it arrived, rushed and brusque - no attempt at all to make the diners feel welcome and valued. By 10pm tables all around were being relaid for breakfast and it was clear staff couldn't wait to be rid of their customers.

A good location, just off the A-1 in a village a few kms outside Vitoria, to break the journey between France and central Spain. Free parking right outside. Worth a modest supplement for a superior room, spacious with fine views and an excellent bathroom. Comfy bed and top quality bed linen and towels provided. Wifi worked well enough. Room prices represent far better value than the restaurant.

We had a room at the back of the hotel, it had a little terrace, overlooking a wall, but efforts are being made to prettify it. The room was a very good size, the bathroom was large and the beds were comfortable - the rooms were quiet. The restaurant is a lovely room, the food was good and not mega expensive. The wine list was reasonably priced. The bar is a pleasant place to be, or during the day, a lovely coffee shop. Breakfast was a good buffet selection with the option of also having eggs and bacon. The building is beautifully and sympathetically converted into a hotel. The rooms at the front of the hotel have lovely views, the gardens are pretty and their is a play area for small children.

    - When the bill came at the restaurant after our dinner, it came out to be almost double of what it should have been. We pointed it out to the waitress and it got corrected. I am giving the staff a benefit of a doubt - maybe it was just incorrectly recorded and a basic mistake, but one should be warned - check your bill ....

    - Very clean and comfortable rooms - Beatiful surroundings - countryside - Well maintained property - Good Restaurant (with one small issue - see below)

There was a feeling that the hotel was very sparsely staffed and the bar and 'cafeteria' lacked atmosphere due to this. Also, whilst the building is very impressively designed it is not being maintained well and there were several issues in the rooms needing attention. Heating controlled centrally gave problems as the 'control' in the room was not operating and a central power switch next to the bed accidentally pressed plunged us into darkness - very disconcerting.

Beautiful building in peaceful location, special views of the plain from front bedrooms, good food generally.

Restaurant menu a bit too limited, but a great choice of wines. Not a lot to do at the hotel other than eat and drink, or indeed in the village. But a good base for exploring the region.

Friendly welcoming staff. Wifi available throughout the hotel (unlike any other Parador I have stayed in!). Good, modernised rooms.
