At first they gave us twin beds, also that clerk made us carry up our luggage when we found out there was an elevator later from another desk clerk. We did get a double bed room, very lovely, but the wifi didn’t work. The other desk clerk showed us where the wifi was strongest and was very helpful.

Ambiance, easy parking, location to the old town and the plazas, good swimming pool, exciting to walk the walls and outer defensive towers

It's in a castle, and you can still visit the battlements which give superb views over the town - not to be missed! The interesting & picturesque old town, with its two lovely squares is only a couple of minutes' walk away and the town park is just outside the hotel. With its 3 or 4 cafes & bars this a lovely, family place on an evening.

Paradores seem to use bolsters/pillows made of a material that resists all attempt to mold them. Take off pressure and they instantly resume their former shape. Uncomfortable.

Whilst this is a great place to stay if visiting Extramadura, the food was nothing special. There are plenty of restaurants nearby.

A delightful building, well located in this small town. Our room was large and comfortable. The antiques and soft furnishings create an atmosphere of timelessness. Staff are welcoming and helpful.

The restaurant food was appalling and ridiculously over priced. The service was friendly but somewhat incompetent. It was an insult. One of us was gluten free. Their solution was some boiled packet pasta with canned tomato soup as the sauce! Outrageous and 14 Euros!

I cannot think of anything except maybe offer eggs for breakfast and have the option to cook your bacon and eggs well done. They eat their bacon soft and eggs runny.

Highly highly highly recommend staying at Paradors in Spain. The price is fabulous, and soooooooo worth every penny. Parador Zafra is awesome!!!! Such a beautiful room and property. Stays true to the parador experience. Felt like royalty. Staff wonderful. Breakfast buffet is extra but worth it for a quick simple bite before heading out. More like a continental breakfast. Breads and cheeses are superb. Eggs and bacon just ok. Tortilla traditional and yummy. Great coffee. The parador is a very good location for walking in this cute little village. Really nice shopping adjacent to Parador, a walking street. Dont need to drive to shop. Also is nice to tour the facility. Great history and learning about the region without masses of tourists. Parking is easy, right out the front door. The Parador is not easy to find, you must have a GPS navigation system. Forget using a map. There are a few directional signs but could be better. We've stayed at 4 of these Paradors across Spain and highly highly recommend it. One website to reserve any of them. Simply no comparison to a traditional hotel. Will be very hard to stay anywhere else now that we have been so spoiled.

Nothing really, except that there was a small surcharge for parking at the front of the parador.

The Parador de Zafra is an old castle which has been modernised to a very high standard. As with all paradors that I've encountered, the rooms are spacious, well appointed, clean and comfortable. Ours had huge french windows which allowed lots of light into the room and could be opened for fresh air. There were bars outside the windows to provide security. Check-in was efficient.

There was no porter service when we arrived. The water supply was cut off for two hours or so when we arrived; the tap water in one of our rooms was still dirty ( dark coloured) the next morning. The breakfast service by a male waiter was surly, and when he took dishes off the tables he made sure he made a lot of noise as if to show how displeased he was with all of us guests. The areas by the lift smelled of toilet in the morning

Not a great welcome at the front desk. Almost as if we were an intrusion until we spoke in Spanish. Rather slow check in procedure but that could be because of the number of official forms you have to sign. Over priced restaurant for the quality of food. Service was great, though. Breakfast selection was meagre.

The setting was superb and going up to the top of the castle through a corridor lined with photos of the building from the late 19th century was amazing. The courtyard for meals was perfect. It was like a step back in time as you could stroll from the historic parador and take the well signposted walking tour around all the other historical buildings easily. The squares are buzzing in the evening with bars offering good value tapas.

It was a pity that, because of the unsettled weather, we could not eat in the patio but in a rather stuffy dining room. The food was, however, good As in other paradors, the buffet breakfast seemed unreasonably expensive and we opted to take breakfast outside.

The Zafra parador is a star attraction of this historic, but still active, market town. The conversion of a former ducal palace into a hotel has been most sensitively done, creating large airy rooms and making best use of the ground floor patio. The parador is located close to the old quarter, with its two beautiful squares, and to the Via Sevillia pedestrian shopping street. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

I can see that fussy people would say that it's a bit too Spanish, and that some of the staff struggled with English, but surely these are among the attractions of staying in Paradors. As they say: "When in Spain ......."

The Parador is right in the centre of Zafra, and for a small fee can provide parking just outside the doors. Lovely building with central courtyard which acts as restaurant. We enjoyed the swimming pool. Good breakfasts and evening meals (I had the "local speciality menu" - a chance to taste some interesting dishes). The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a ground floor room that led straight out into the central courtyard - it was good. Zafra was an busy little town with colonnaded squares, old buildings, and a good choice of eating and drinking places.

That on this particular stay an awning was stretched over the main courtyard, it looks awful. In previous stays we have been able to enjoy a drink, a cigar, listen to their light music and watch the birds in the sky.
