The building. The rooms and their decorations. The very nice staff. The swimming pool area. Parking facilities.

    Breakfast choices were not great.

Absolutely gorgeous Manor home in an incredible location. The staff were great, and very accommodating. Our room was super comfortable, the bed and bedding were first rate. The whole Manor home/hotel is available to guests. There are so many gorgeous communal spaces. We went for a walk through the village and into the countryside and it was beautiful. We had a lovely evening meal of toasted baguettes with delicious toppings, and wine. We would definitely choose this hotel again in the future.

    Beautiful property with amazing staff.

Very remote area and no place to eat at the property. Having a restaurant would make the guest experience much better. Wifi was very, very slow. Rooms are very hot. I even asked for them to turn off the heat, but still uncomfortably warm and difficult to sleep.

Beautiful location, the house and the surroundings are absolutely lovely. The facilities are superbly maintained, the room was very spacious and clean, and the staff was super welcoming. Excellent breakfast with local food.

The only thing we did not love was the absence of any dinner option in the hotel. The staff does a great job at providing plenty of restaurant options in the surroundings, but given the lack of supermarkets in the area (especially on weekends) it would have been perfect to have the option to grab a sandwich or a burger at the hotel, and fully enjoy the comfort of the facilities, without having to leave to grab dinner.

The hotel offers a truly unique experience, as it is the result of a thoughtful rehabilitation of historic buildings. You can enjoy various cozy spaces perfect for an evening chat, such as the library and living room. The rooms are exceptionally warm, ensuring comfort even on the coldest days. The breakfast is outstanding, offering excellent quality for the price. To top it all off, a guided tour of the hotel and its fascinating history adds an unforgettable touch to the stay.

The rooms would benefit from the addition of a courtesy tea maker.

Everything! A unique experience in an updated Manor House. The hostess was exceptional and gave us an individual tour explaining the history, renovations and additions they have made. The rooms were individual and modern. A real find at a bargain price. Well worth the journey. The surrounding countryside was picturesque. The wine they produce on site is also very nice.

    Absolutely nothing.

The excellent architectural renovation. the gardens. The decoration, although overdue to my personal taste Breakfast was fair, in line with the type of accommodation

I didn’t realise when booking, that this accommodation, is a 5* Albergue for Santiago Pilgrims, and that is what it is! with all that facilities that you expect for a stop over Restaurant is not available, so you must get on the car and travel a couple of km But again, I didn’t read the small lines Shower floor is slippery, and the door opens the wrong way

    Property response:

As anyone can see, we do not usually respond to reviews but, in this case, we think we should clarify, to anyone who can notice this comment, that the Pazo da Pena Manzaneda is NOT a "hostel" (really?!), much less a "pilgrim hostel" (we are not in the area of influence of absolutely ANY Camino de Santiago which, in addition, is very unfortunate for us, to tell the truth, seeing the number of Caminos de Santiago that exist today... one more Camino would be very welcome!). We are not a "5 star hotel" either and, what's more, we are not even a "hotel". The Pazo da Pena Manzaneda is a stately house from the 16th century, which we rehabilitated for 8 long years to reopen it as Rural Tourism ACCOMMODATION. For almost 10 years now, we have been striving day after day with the sole objective of providing a unique and special lodging experience and, seeing the vast majority of the reviews that we receive, we believe that we are achieving it. Inspired by the title of this review, we would like to close our response with: "A dedicated traveler/guest would make the difference."

An extraordinary hotel and equally extraordinary location. Beautifully restored ancient seigneurial manor house of exceptional taste. Warm welcome and a sense of privilege to find such a place. Cannot recommend too highly.

The building (Pazo) is unique. Very well preserved keeping the atmosphere but yet very confortable. Common areas were as they would have been 100 years ago. I loved the visit were Pazo staff explained us the history of the building and former owners. The breakfast was very good A buffet with lots of local products. I loved the bica and the local meat products. Prior to arrival Pazo da Pena sent us an email detailing the local atractions and places to have lunch and dinner. Pazo Staff was very helpfull. Everything was design to make the experience even more enjoyable.

It is very hard to find something negative to say. It may be that you need to plan where to have your lunch and dinner because there is only little villages around. Now I know what is the morriña, counting the days for my next hollidays to have a chance to come back

The place was great and it had all the facilities needed. It was a bit remote but it made it easy for us to relax and chill out. The staff were truly helpful and they also gave us a private tour around the pazo and told us a bit more about its history.

    Nothing to add
