The room 201 was looking out at concrete . There was unit like central heating and at times when you you opened window there was a smell if fumes. Pity everything else very good.

Location breakfast. Helpful staff. Clean comfortable room except for aspect. Might be better used for storage room. Great value.

We only stayed one night. Lesson learned - stay longer next time.

The Petit Palace is in a great location - a few minutes walk from the station, old town and cathedral (stunning), about 10 minutes walk to La Ribera market in one direction and about 20 minutes to the Guggenheim in the other. Parking Arenal is close by. Hotel was clean and comfy, staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast is as good as the reviews say.

Petit certainly; Palace? Not sure about that. The room was very small, though quite cleverly appointed which went some way to compensating for the lack of space. The bed was the smallest a double bed can be. Some of the fittings were tired and fragile. The air con was ancient, noisy and totally ineffective. Very cramped lobby; the lounge space is on the top of 6 floors. Breakfast was, like the accommodation itself, overpriced (so we didn't have it).

Location - that's what you're paying for here, right at the entrance to the old town and opposite the historic theatre; also on the tram line. One room detail deserves mention: Power sockets above the night stands on BOTH sides of the bed. Hurray!

    The room was ok

The reception staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful with any questions. Had a great trip on our last day on the recommendation of the receptionist. Breakfast was extremely good with an excellent choice of food and drinks. Again the staff were fantastic. The room was ok, a bit tired and needing decoration. That said the bathroom was amazing. Great choice right in the city centre public transport easy to get and so inexpensive

Rooms are relatively modern but show the sign of time in many details. Furnitures are somewhat peculiar: bed on top of structure (you need the stairs to reach it), shower very complex to use, air conditioner quite old, ... My room (204) had a smell impossible to remove. Extremely expensive (200 €) and cost not justified by the quality (an important fair was on in the period of my stay). Breakfast room very small and quite crowded with hectic personnel trying to run it smoothly (appreciated).

Nice renovated building. Staff is young and friendly. Rooms are large and clean. Good breakfast. Nice location near the cathedral and the historical center with many solutions for dinner.

It is a very well located hotel but very dirty, hair in the shower, the air conditioning full of dirt. Very thin ceiling and walls, we could listen people in the other rooms walking, talking all night long. At about 4 AM someone called my room and said nothing. At about 7 AM someone ENTERED my room, turned on the bathroom light an left. Really disappointing.

The only things we didn’t enjoy too much was that the bathroom had a rather unpleasant smell from the pipes and the wall between the room and the bathroom was a glass wall with a glass door.

The Petit Palace Arana, situated in Casco Viejo, is a good choice in Bilbao. The hotel is very nice, as well as the employees and the location is very good too. The breakfast is very good and varied, with gluten-free options. The room was pretty big and with a very comfortable bed.

Excellent staff, excellent location. My fault that I didn't know the breakfast was not included in my reservation. Whenever a light-rail car passes by hotel shakes a little. :) A man and his wife check into a hotel. The husband wants to have a drink at the bar, but his wife is extremely tired so she decides to go on up to their room to rest. She lies down on the bed... just then, and elevated train passes by very close to the window and shakes the room so hard she's thrown out of the bed. Thinking this must be a freak occurrence, she lies down once more. Again a train shakes the room so violently, she's pitched to the floor. Exasperated, she calls the front desk, asks for the manager. The manager says he'll be right up. The manager is skeptical but the wife insists the story is true. "Look... lie here on the bed -- you'll be thrown right to the floor!" So he lies down next to the wife. Just then the husband walks in. "What," he says, "are you doing here!?!" The manager calmly replies, "Would you believe I'm waiting for a train?"

Excellent business class hotel in the old city, walking distance to the Guggenheim, Cathedral, restaurants, shops. Just across the river from the train station. Our room had a nice little veranda. Quiet enough location for the area of town. Good bathroom, nice bed and linens. Staff were super helpful, found a dentist nearby for my wife. Excellent value. Highly recommended.

The shower was a bit small and difficult to operate but ok. A large person would not have been happy.

The staff was particularly pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was excellent! The bed was comfy.

Coffee machine a breakfast was slow and queues formed. They simply need to provide a second machine. Hot food was, in fact, stone cold. We had to ask the staff to warm it in a microwave. I suggest the manager gets a grip!

Great location next to very handy tram stop.

It's Bilbao.. so you know.. rain.

Located in the old part of the city, only a few minutes away from two pintxo's areas and with access to the rest of the city either by bike (recommended) or by public transport. Friendly staff and nice facilities.

It was a little bit noisy in the room — you can hear everything from hall. Glass toilet room door, you can't close it tightly.

Nice location, close to the historical city center. There are a lot of underground parkings around. Comfortable room.

The condition of the hotel was in need of repair and updating. There were several areas with loose floor boards and the carpet was very dirty and warn.

The beds were comfortable and staff friendly. Location was good

Traffic around the hotel was a nightmare. Hard to even find a place to unload. Parking was a 15 min walk to an underground lot. Had to take one elevator to the first floor, haul luggage down the hall to a 2nd elevator that took you up to your room. Stuffy breakfast room and only public bathroom were on the 6th floor. Bathroom was outdated and needs a remodel. No counter space. VERY noisy because of location. Had to keep the windows open to keep cool and this was late September. I would not recommend this hotel.

The only 3 things good about this property are the very helpful and enthusiastic staff, the comfortable beds, and the location. (Close to old town and the Guggenheim)

A bar would have been a bonus but all in all a super place to stay for a Bilbao city break.

Location was brilliant situated in the old town and easy walking to most tourist spots i.e. Guggleheim, Fenicular, fish/meat market etc. 24hour reception is welcomed and often small er hotel such as this can't offer this facility, our flight was late arriving after midnight so needed this. Only 15mins by taxi from airport. Prices were very good in comparison to other nearbye hotels.

Old building with wooden floors so could have done with more soundproofing.

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable, light and airy room. Excellent summer season breakfast which was varied and imaginative with plentiful fresh fruit.

Maybe a kettle in the room, us brits love our tea in the morning. Didn't realise that we could have asked for one until we were checking out

The range of items on offer at breakfast was fantastic, the bed was huge and very comfortable, the location was great for a mix of the old and new architecture and transport. The Guggenheim was within walking distance.

Service at breakfast could have been better, as it was very crowded at times and tables were not cleaned in time, I had to do it myself just to find a spot to sit.

The hotel is located near the theater, so walking distance to old town.

A minor detail - in the bathroom: no place for the hand-soap, no hooks and nowhere to put a washbag. Slightly creaky floor above our room.

Warm welcome, comfortable spacious room, and wonderful location near river, old town, theatre and metro. The idea of free bike hire is attractive for a longer trip.

We had a minor problem accessing the WiFi upon arrival in our room on the first day. The hotel staff quickly solved the problem.

Ideal location in the historic Casco Viejo with easy access to Nueva Bilbao. Our room was spacious and offered a charming view from the balcony over the old town. Staff was always helpful and eager to attend to our needs.

Everything was all right. The hotel, the staff, the location are exceptional. We had slight problem with the shower but it didn't spoil the general impression of the hotel. The staff is very polite and helpful. The rooms were cleaned and arranged every day. The breakfast was healthy - a lot of fresh fruit, different varients for allegic people.

Parking was hard to find. But Reception handled that by phone.

Check-in staff - Paula - was tops. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Room was pretty quiet given it was in the biggest festival of the year! Location in the heart of Old Town, on the river and walking distance to the Guggenheim, all good!

Difficult to stop car in front, so unloading luggage (if you have a lot) would not be easy. Parking recommended by hotel is underground public lot 200 yards away (not far, but a pain to carry luggage). Don't know what happens if lot is full.

there is no restaurant - though they served breakfast - and the bathroom was a long, thin, room - not very spacious, not much room to put your toiletries.

Some drawers in the room would have been useful and the safe could have been more accessible.

The breakfast choice was excellent. The location could not be bettered for anyone wishing to explore Bilbao. Public transport links are good and access to the many brilliant bars, restaurants and plazas is first class. Most places within walking distance but use the tram or bus if not. Strongly recommended.
