Staying at this hotel makes sense only if you have a room with a view over the Sierra, the river Tormes and the village of El Barco de Avila - all at the backside of the hotel. Unfortunately we had a front side room looking over the main road and a beans shop. Strangely enough the architect of this hotel made very little use of the potential offered by the views over the Sierra. The restaurant is at the road side with no views. There is a terrace with good views behind the hotel but it looks underdeveloped and a bit hard to reach from the bar. The garden is not kept and the rear side of the building looks unfinished.

Location next to Sierra de Gredos, perfect point of departure for trips in the Sierra. The interior design is truly 4*, modern and clean, nice staff.

Very little english spoken so communication slightly difficult if you dont speak a lot of spanish The cafeteria wasnt open in the evening to serve tapas so the restaurant was the only option.

The personnel is not only extremely professional, but also informative if you ask any questions or have special requests for dinner and breakfast. The walk to the old town, the nearby river, and the vista points are outstanding. If you enjoy historical sites, with hills and slopes and riverbank walks nearby, there's plenty to enjoy.

The view from the breakfast room towards the bridge & town is great, but the windows really need a good clean. The restaurant's fixed menu meal was a bit disappointing - a limited choice and some items were unavailable; but have to say that the dessert was excellent!

Very comfortable spacious room. Wonderful view from the room over the town and the Roman bridge. Reception staff very helpful. Good location for a walk into town.

Would be good if the bar opened before 8pm, but no worries, walk into this delightful town and have your pre-dinner drink in the old square.

This is a superb place, but you have to book a room with a view of the castle and town and mountains beyond.

The hotel was like a ghost town apart from the receptionists who did not speak English. Most of the hotel was shut down. We were not orientated to any facilities. We noticed that food and plates on the terrace were never cleared up. The bed frame was tatty and the room dirty. The breakfast was adequate but again no staff to be seen. It was not a 4* hotel.

View from the bedroom was lovely. You can swim in the nearby river but no-one told us about it until it was too late.

This was our second visit and would certainly return to this hotel if in the area again. Great view from the bedroom overlooking the river and the town (bridge, church and castle) with snow-capped mountains in the background. Friendly helpful staff on reception. Parking on site. We asked to change room as the original one given to us had two twin beds (we asked for double), the toilet didn't flush well. But the receptionist was not very kind in offering different alternatives. Eventually we paid double the original price for a room that featured a double bed and a functioning toilets. The costumer service was was not good at all. Breakfast was also rather poor.

Having changed the room, we liked the facilities of the room, spacious, and very clean

Staffs are generally too reliant on hotel director. Receptionist was under par. I made 2 reservations but cancelled 1. During check in, the cancelled booking was recognized, but the valid booking wasn't recognized. She insisted there was no booking and finally found it in a different folder. Even borrowing a pail (due to broken toilet flush) needs consent from the director. Receptionist certainly needs more training.

The view from the room is picturesque (facing Tormes river)! Hotel is well located, good starting base to explore both Valle del Jerte and Sierra de Gredos. The hotel director's above and beyond customer service was much appreciated.

The receptionist seemed disinterested. He intially gave us the wrong room. When we went back to him, he did not have the grace to apologise. He is a young man who may have been lacking in confidence. Definitely a training issue. All the other staff were brilliant.

Easy to find, lovely views, easy walk into town, good for parking, decent meal for price, very quiet at night, good breakfast choice. Comfortable and clean room. Staff friendly, but it was an advantage that we speak some Spanish. Reception staff not as communicative as waiter, but that improved as I showed my willingness to use my limited Spanish.
