Generally needed tlc in rooms and terrace roof. Not sure about all the wild cats around breakfast area. Pool did not look inviting. We were charged for room on leaving even though payment had been taken a week before we arrived. Refund has been made since.

Peacefulness of location but town nearby

    Absolutely nothing to complain about

Beautiful setting. About a 10 minute walk into the centre of town along a quiet road. Superb breakfast. Lovely decor. The old farmhouse has been renovated to a high standard and in a very interesting way. All in all super-comfortable.

Wonderful silent setting with spectacular views over Nijar and the plain to the coast and up the mountain behind. Delightful old style Spanish style one floor rooms with small outside terrace.friendly reception from Celeste. 15 mins walk into Nijar and start of memorable 3 hour walk up the valley to Huebro passing the many medieval water mills. Great place to stay a few days .

Celeste is a wonderful host! It is worth the windy road to reach her. The cortija is delightfully quirky with lovely views. Our room had a comfy bed and en suite facilities with good shower and there is a hair dryer. Great breakfast.

Cortijo La Alberca will not suit everyone. It is a fifteen minute uphill walk from the village, and in January it got dark by 6.30pm, so. although Celeste did lend us a torch it wasn't the easiest of walks when we returned from the village after going down to find dinner. We could have taken the car but didn't want to have to think about drinking and driving. It is a small thing but worth considering if walking is not your thing.

Cortijo La Alberca is a beautiful property, nestled at the head of a valley overlooking the village of Nijar and surrounded by olive and orange groves. The authentic character of the cortijo has been preserved but not at the expense of comfort. Our en-suite room was very comfortable and spacious, with a small private terrace and a stunning view. The tranquility was delightful. Breakfasts were delicious, and Celeste and Carolina made us very welcome. We were sorry to have to leave.

The breakfast menu (all in Spanish) was a list of things. Not sure what to choose. Would have helped if an English Version was available or an explanation in English. Told the night before that Dinner wasn't served at the weekend so we walked into Nijar and had a menu del dia. Was messaged later (too late) to tell us that dinner would be served.

Bed was very comfortable. Great location and views. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Quaint room.

We understood from the booking.com site that evening meals would be available but they were not. This resulted in us walking 1 km down to the village for our evening meal. The walk back was uphill which was very difficult for one of us to negotiate due to breathing difficulties. No taxi services were available in Níjar. The second night we used our own transport.

    Lovely country location.

It takes a while to get used to the access road....narrow for someone only used to City driving.....but one gets used to it and the other drivers are understanding. My husband found the mattress a little soft. I found it ok.

After a long day driving We were delighted by the friendly welcome from Celeste. The place is beautiful and wonderfully relaxing. Each room has an outdoor shady terrace. Breakfast is served beside the pool, with the sound of the water cascading into the pool. We'd love to come back.

The day we arrived on Monday was when most restaurants were closed, and as far as I could establish no dinner available on the premises, if you want luxury and constant wifi then this is not for you.

Breakfast was very good, service was very welcoming, the location was ideal for those seeking tranquility away from the bustle of a town. The pool was clean water from the mountain. The rooms were adequately equipped and the beds very comfortable.

Narrow winding approach road needs care to negotiate but is normal for an ancient traditional village.

Wonderful caring hostess made us feel it was our home. High quality home cooked meals. Rustic appearance with relaxing atmosphere. Room clean and comfortable, well equipped with all basic needs. Close to unspoilt beaches and dramatic mountain scenery for exploring the area or to visit Almeria. Makes good use of solar power and spring water. Faces due south and sheltered by mountains behind for winter warmth. Interesting walks from the property.

What a find. It was like coming home with a greeting from a member of the family. A very quirky place with superb views in a room like a small home. Wonderful breakfast and dinner. Wonderful ambience what more could anyone ask.

The room was pretty cold certainly not warm enough to sit in with comfort. The breakfast was excellent. We opted to have the evening meal which was good but at €50 for two with a cheap bottle of white wine thought very expensive. Also had to pay in cash with no bill or receipt.

    Fantastic views. Bed very comfortable.

Wifi in every room, not just the public spaces ... but maybe this is a plus after all :)

We felt like home. The place is beautiful, rustic, breakfast is very good, it is a 25 minutes drive to any beautiful cabo di gata beach. Nijar is also one of the warmest places we found in Andalusia.
