I honestly can’t think of anything negative about this hotel. Believe me, I’not hesitant to complain when necessary but this place is a one off.

A simply wonderful 7 night stay at this stunning colonial hotel set in the heart of a banana plantation with established beautiful gardens. I can’t wait to return. Staff were all exceptionally polite, warm and friendly, making my wife and I feel like we were the only people at the hotel. Alejandro and his colleagues, being local and knowledgeable, went the extra mile to help explain the best walks and places to visit on this stunning volcanic island. A truly lovely holiday to remember in a calming environment. Fantastic breakfast and dining experience. We truly didn’t know places like this existed! Sincere thanks. Paul

It is a working plantation, so now and again the logistics of this would mean 07:00 wake up as workers gathered before the start of a banana tending day. Still, a fabulous experience.

Honest, hardworking staff. My partner and I felt like walking through history. Great experience!

The village of El Guincho is very small and difficult to find at first. A car is more or less essential for getting around the area.

The hotel is in a unique location, in a banana plantation with wonderful views of the coast. It is surrounded by a garden full of flowers, and has a beautiful courtyard with mature trees and a fountain, where guests can relax in the plentiful seating. The staff are friendly and guests are given a warm welcome in an informal atmosphere. An ideal setting for a relaxing holiday in peace and quiet.

Loved the hotel - the location, the facilities, the breakfast! Full of character with lots of different places to sit and relax - in the sun or shade. Do explore - its only a short walk to a small pebbly beach and natural plunge pool. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. It is best to have a car - sandy beaches are a distance away.

I liked everything. It is a very romantic place. I liked the sound of banana trees leaves rustling on the breeze, the views, the courtyard... The place itself is amazing. Cool nights help to remove the heat of the day. The view from one of the terraces to the ocean is just perfect. It was much more than we expected. The location might look remote, but on an island like that nothing is really remote and the highway is good.

The accommodation is very simple but very nice. The cleaning could have been a little more rigorous - it wasn't dirty but the bathroom would have benefited from a deep clean.

This is a very special place - quite a world away from the usual Hotel Chain. Beautifully kept grounds and gardens with stunning views. The walks through the banana plantations to the roaring Atlantic are delightful and there are so many little nooks and crannies to find a sunny or shady spot around the hotel, including a sunset viewing covered terrace by the tennis courts.

No tea/coffee making facilities in room - these are in the self service bar across the courtyard. Limited options for evening meals within easy walking distance (one Canarian style restaurant up the hill) and the in-house restaurant has a fixed menu and is only open Tuesday and Friday nights when meals need to be pre-booked. Was hoping to see lots of wildlife but this was scarcer than expected, maybe because it was January, but possibly a side effect of pest control measures on the plantations.

Clean, comfortable, beautiful place and scenery, staff helpful and pleasant without being intrusive. Lots of self-service amenities. Gardens and museum-worthy antique artefacts to explore. All the free bananas you can eat. Plenty of interesting attractions a short drive away. Didn't need to use insect repellant as there didn't seem to be any biting flies around (this was in January). Excellent place to go if you like peace and quiet, and have a car.

    • Double or Twin Room - Annex Building
    • Stayed 10 nights

    - Rooms: The quality of the furniture in the side building seems to be worse as compared to the main building. No view from the windows. Minimalistic equipment. - Breakfast: Really bad coffee for breakfast. - Parking: These are the smallest parking lots I have ever seen! - Restaurant: Opened only 1-2 evenings per week, requires reservation during breakfast.

    - Rooms & location: We stayed in the side building which is located in a 5 min walk from the main building with breakfast room. Beautiful location in the middle of the banana plantage, very quiet at night, some cats around that provide entertainment – they always try to come into the rooms. No TV, but not required. Drinks (beer, wine, water, coffee) provided for self-service, fair pricing. Fresh fruits always available. Beautiful flower garden. Tennis and table tennis playground, small pool and sauna are available. A good location (car required)! Garachico is an 8 min drive by car, and offers good restaurants. - Cleaning: Good. - WLAN: works perfekt! - Breakfast: Simple breakfast with sufficiently good quality. Freshly cut fruits, tomatoes, cereals, crumbled eggs, 1 kind of cheese and sausage, bread, tea, coffee. - Parking: Free parking, enough parking lots for all guests, no reservation needed. Recommendation: Yes. We would come again. Try to go into the main building!

We just loved the hotel located in reconstructed hacienda in the middle of banana plantation. The staff was the best I have ever met in any hotel - both very professional and nice at the same time. Dinner was provided on Tuesdays and Fridays only, otherwise eating meant a drive to Garachico(no walkable route), or to the one nearby restaurant, which you probably didn't want to go to every evening. The hotel's breakfast was acceptable, but the one dinner we had there was uninspiring. WiFi didn't work in the rooms, just the public areas.

Very characterful buildings, and a very laid-back experience. Breakfast (and coffee throughout the day) were self-service, and there was an honesty bar if wanted, so no need to be asking for attention most of the time. The surrounding banana plantation is dramatic and great for wandering around and getting lost in the evenings. That certainly made this hotel different.

The only minus could be for those who travel without a car - there is not much choice for dinner in a walking distance from the hotel, but instead you get a total tranquility and relax.

We likes quite everything about this hotel! Even though there are no restaurants and places to go in the evening in a walking distance, but the scenery around hotel is just breathtaking! There are several trails around that you can go hiking in the morning after having a delicious breakfast. The breakfast was of an exceptional quality! And the view from the restaurant was just unforgettable. The hotel grounds are very beautiful and well maintained. Even though we visited in the end of January and it was not hot outside, we could enjoy swimming in the pool, as the water there was heated. The parking is free and very safe. In general we regretted that we didn't book this hotel for a longer time as 3 nights there were too short to fully enjoy the beauty and zen of the place.

The room was a little dark (although the shutters allowed for great sleep) and the wifi was a bit patchy, but neither of these were a big issue.

Lovely hotel in fantastic location (the middle of a banana plantation) near Garachico and Icod. We particularly liked eating breakfast outside on sunny mornings. The staff were fantastic - very friendly and always willing to help and provide suggestions for places to eat/visit. We enjoyed dinner in the hotel one night, and also made use of the bar. A focus on environmental sustainability was clear to see.

The second building, where my room was, is a bit far from the main facilities and the path there could use lighting at night.

Great location of you like driving on the mountainroads, and the tranquility at the countryside. The hotel helped me book a car that was delivered to my room, after I failed to find an available car at the airport. They also helped me book a taxi to the airport on new years eve at 6.00 AM.

When you arrive at night, the place is difficult to find because it doesn't appear as a hotel. ..... oh no, that's actually another plus point ....

Location was excellent. In the middle of a banana plantage with a lot of history. How romantic is that. Totally unexpected. Far away from all the big hotels. Super nice people and very helpful. No TV's or radio's in the room which was very relaxing.

Could have been a greater assortment of products for breakfast and the possibility to take an evening meal other than on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Loved the location in a working banana plantation although my partner was less enthusiastic. Temperatures dipped considerably at night and he contracted a chill.

Breakfast was a bit below the excellent overall quality. In particular coffee machine produces something that leaves a lot to be desired. You should be aware that the location is very close to the sea but as in most places on the island no beach for swimming.

Great location in the middle of a banana farm with a authentic old farm building converted to a hotel. Great friendly staff. Quiet area, no noise from tourist entertainment like bars or restaurants
