Food was average. First receptionist was a bit clueless about local hiking, which must be a big attraction for visitors.

Excellent location: so close to Granada, but no sign of it from Monochil. We had a long dinner on the terrace, it was very enjoyable. Plenty of parking. The walk through the gorge and hills was spectacular and, with a noon check-out, we were able to take full advantage. Although the pool was small, it was very refreshing with great scenery to look at.

Bathroom was pretty small. Interior pretty old-fashioned.

The location was perfect for us, since we've had to catch an early flight. It was an easy walk to the station, as well as to the centre.

    The breakfast wasn't great!

The hotel itself is comfortable, clean, has beautiful views and is in a Great location in a little village outside of Granada. The village has a few restaurants within walking distance. During our stay visited the hanging bridges of monichil, the water park, the main centre of Granada as well as lake Bermejales - all within easy access by car.

We didn't like the one long pillow and even with another, it was too unusual and uncomfortable for us. Also, we found the lighting poor, but it seems to be common in Spain.

The owners/managers, the waitress and the setting. Even though we have basically no Spanish and the staff limited English, we managed to communicate and found them very helpful.

Breakfast options during our 2nd and 3rd day were less than our 1st day. Keep the eggs and fresh fruit and this place is excellent!

This is a great place to stay! Although it's not in granada itself, but close by car and bus (although very limited busses on sunday). You can walk straight out from your hotel towards Los Cahorros, a beautiful hike up in the mountains, or drive up the Sierra Nevada! Reserve Alhambra tickets upfront to visit the palace, there a limited tickets per day. The hotel itself has good facilities, very friendly staff, and is really affordable.

Asked for a high floor with good view and was given first floor with narrow view to the side although hotel was not full. Ask for a view to the front, which rooms also have small balcony.

Monachil is a great village ideally positioned for doing the "Los Cahorros" walk up the gorge. Some good bars and restaurants for such a small place with one having live music of a high standard. Continental Breakfast at the hotel was plentiful and the fresh bread was gorgeous.

Driving up to the village of Monachil is exciting as the road is curving and at times steep - but it is after all, in the mountains... It is worth it, though, for a nightime escape from the tourist hub-bub of Granada.

This charming lodge is neither rural nor a garden (huerta), but rather a ski resort a short drive from Granada. Once you park your car (free, on the hotel grounds) there is no need to use it to visit Granada, as the compact village of Monachil is just a 25 minute bus ride (several times a day @~$1.75) to/from downtown. We visited the hotel in the off-season (May), and nearly had it to ourselves. The only sound at night was that of the mountain stream flowing through the village. The hotel was immaculately clean, the breakfast was good, and the host(s) both hospitable and helpful. While we did not have dinner in the hotel (due to our tourist activity), we noticed that the hotel restaurant is well-patronized by local residents, and that the prices are moderate. We note in passing that a popular hiking trail begins in Monachil, and, in fact, a simple walk through the village can be an invigorating up-and-down affair!

Hotel wasn't open when we checked in so after ringing the bell for a while we then had to phone the hotel to get someone to let us in.
