Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel is lovely but likely makes it s real.income from weddings, and conferences. So whilst there is a bar you are better to drive into the local village or arrange a cab as there is no restaurant at the hotel.
A real pleasure to.stay here before flying back.to the UK from Santander. Loved our ground floor room and terrace. Fabulous pool and relaxation terrace. Ample choice for largely self service breakfast. Lovely grounds and fabulous art on every wall. Will likely return.

United KingdomNothing.
Great breakfast with plenty of fruit, local cheese and all you need. Handy for beaches and several towns and attractions. Great pool. The well adapted old buildings and the peacefulness of the place were quite unexpected. The staff were outstanding.

United StatesSome things were a little dated. This wasn’t much of a problem and anyone who spends all their time streaming television in their room, probably wouldn’t appreciate this place
A hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. A level of finish that is rarely seen. Rich in history and beauty. I highly recommend

SpainWhen we visited the hotel did not have a restaurant. It is necessary to drive to the nearest village or a little further (where you can find more places to eat and supermarkets).
This charming hotel is full of character in a beautiful setting. Our comfortable room was very clean as was everywhere else. You can walk in the grounds and the location is quiet countryside. The staff we met were efficient and polite and welcoming. The breakfast was of good quality with plenty of choice. A hotel with great character in a lovely setting complete with grounds and a swimming pool.

United KingdomThe main issue was that the restaurant was no longer open for evening meals this resulted in a walk into Escalante for food down a very busy narrow road with no pavements. This was especially dangerous on our walk back in the dark. The hotel should make it clear that the restaurant is only open for breakfast and what the options for local restaurants are.
The hotel is lovely and the rooms are stunning. The suite we booked was superb and huge with lovely views. The pool is also excellent and very peaceful. Overall an excellently presented property.

PolandBathroom facilities are functional but aged. Restaurant could alternated menu during the week, since it offers very limited choice of dishes. Garden is slightly rundown outside of the main walking areas.
Perfect spot for anyone looking for few days breakaway in a peaceful place. The hotel is immersed in lush green. Nice swimming pool and a restaurant are a wonderful addition which make the stay super comfortable. Limited number of rooms allows for privacy even in high season. Staff are kind and competent, although not all speak English.

IrelandUnfortunately the restaurant was closed during our stay so we had to go into the local village. The hotel were able to arrange a taxi into the village however we were not able to get a taxi back so we had to walk back to the hotel. The road back was unlit, there were no footpaths and it was quite busy so a bit of a treacherous walk after dark!
Beautiful setting, lovely pool and terrace area but the hotel is located a few miles outside Escalante village. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was lovely with good variety.

United KingdomWhen we visited San Roman 20 years ago the restaurant also offered lunch (which was excellent), but it no longer does. The set dinner, which we tried twice, had a short menu but, given the quality of the hotel, was not overly expensive. The service, especially of accompanying drinks, was amateurish. Our room was adajcent to the hoteliers' standard - a machine whose sole function was apparently to generate noise and disturb sensitive ears. It wasn't quite loud enough to merit a complaint, however. The grandeur of San Roman was slightly faded - a threadbare bathrobe, for example.
The surroundings are idyllic, but weekends are probably best avoided - often hosting weddings. Our superior room was very comfortable. The pool was good, if a trifle cursi. Breakfasts (included) were good. Several restauarants in Escalante itself serve very reasonable lunches.
